What does it mean for us?
The Admirals will once again be in the West Division. With Quad City(ies) moving up north, Iowa losing their affiliation and being just dumb in general, and with a new team in Austin, the West Division will have a slightly different look next season. Here are the teams we need to beat, and the amount of times we'll get the opportunity to do so.
Milwaukee Admirals
Chicago Wolves (10 games)
Houston Aeros (8 games)
Peoria Rivermen (10 games)
Rockford IceHogs (10 games)
San Antonio Rampage (8 games)
Texas Stars (8 games)
The rest of the 80 game schedule? That's going to be played against teams from the North Division.
Grand Rapids Griffins (6 games)
Hamilton Bulldogs (4 games)
Lake Erie Monsters (4 games)
Manitoba Moose (4 games)
Toronto Marlies (4 games)
Abbotsford Heat (4 games)
(The Abbotsford Heat is/are the new Quad City(ies) Flames.)
What? You say there's a team from the North Division that the Admirals don't play? You're absolutely right! The Admirals will not be playing the Rochester Americans this year. Nor will they be playing any team from the Eastern Conference. In the past, they've played home-and-home games against teams from the east, but for the second straight year, the only way the Admirals will see the east is if they make it to the Calder Cup finals.
