BREAKING NEWS Ben Eaves Retires

Ben EavesThe Milwaukee Admirals locker room was hit with a bombshell Monday, as Ben Eaves has left the team and will announce his retirement.

Eaves played seven games for the Ads this year, scoring one goal and adding three assists. His signed a one-year deal with the Predators, so unless they release him from his contract, his options are limited. He can stay retired, or he can play overseas.

Eaves was scratched from the Admirals' last game at Rockford with a lower body injury. That injury did not seem major, so it was probably not the only factor in Eaves' decision.

I'm guessing that Chris Mueller, sent back to Cincinnati today, will turn right back around and come back to Milwaukee.

UPDATE 10:29pm: Gosh, we love the internet. Admirals Short Shifts is now being cited as the source on Ben Eaves' Wikipedia page. We have officially arrived!

Ben has had chronic knee problems dating back to his senior year at Boston College, and if you look at his career stats, he played only a handful of games — if at all — in his last four seasons and didn't play at all in 2006-07. I admire his desire and determination to keep doing something he loves, but it seems his body just wasn't going to cooperate.

I'm sure if continuing to play was possible, he'd love nothing more than to do so for the Predators organization. There's nothing more to this story than that "lower body injury" you mention, so don't read anything more into it than is there.
