Hoffman Signs for $8MM

Trevor Hoffman signs a one-year deal worth $8MM to remain with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2010.

The deal also includes a mutual option for 2011, which signifies that the All-Time Saves leader truly loves Milwaukee -- both on and off the field.  Do you remember when Milwaukee could not entice anyone to sign a free agent deal?

Jeff Suppan may have been a terrible contract for the Crew, but it opened the floodgates for many free agent signings.  They include Mike Cameron and Jason Kendall, both of whom also love the city and the team.

A one year deal with an option for 2011 for a 40 year old does not mean he loves Milwaukee on and off the field.

A one-year option for a closer who posted under a 2.00 ERA and chose to avoid free agency all together means he did.  You have to look past his age...especially if he's only pitching one inning per game.

Yes it can mean that stupid. Hoffman could have gone almost anywhere even back to San Diego and probaly got more, but he chose to stay here.

So yes it does mean he loves it here on and off the field or he would not have given up free agency after 30 + saves clown I don't care if 40 years old or not.

That is not 'old' for a closer and one who throws changeup's.  He can get people out another 3-5 years with the way his arm is and how he pitches. You must be a Cubs fan?

Stop being so cynical. There are those players would enjoy playing in Milwaukee in front of 3 million fans...
