Mark Attanasio has had it pretty easy as the owner of the Milwaukee Brewers up to this point. He took over an organization with a competent front office in place, a budding farm system, and excitement from the local fan base hoping

re: Only two options for Mark Attanasio

Either works for me because I share your fear of his making desperate "lame duck" moves that hurt the long term far more than they help the short term.

The future of this franchise is still very bright. They have a solid core of young players still under control for a few years, they have hitting talent in the upper minors and pitching talent in the lower minors. They'll have a boatload of draft picks coming for CC and Sheets. They'll have chances to parlay talent for prospects in a few years.

Ultimately, this franchise has talent all over the roster. They have close to enough talent to make the playoffs. Whoever is in charge come the end of October will have to judiciously evaluate that talent and try to improve the roster. I'm not sold yet that Melvin isn't the guy to do this, but he cannot be forced to "win now"

Actually, that goes for whoever might be hired as well. The GM of this team always needs to keep one eye firmly towards the future.
