  • Buy stock in your favorite athletes?!?

After taking a look at your investments recently, and I know you all have, have you ever wished you could be invested in something more fun? Maybe something that you can follow the value of with more ease and definitely more interest?

I have the perfect solution! Why not invest in stocks in your favorite athletes? Well that's what Michael Sroka thought when he recently launched OneSeason.com

"The website, which debuted on Wednesday, offers U.S. fans the chance to buy shares in such athletes as basketball star LeBron James and golfer Tiger Woods. The aim is to make a profit from trades, much like investors do when betting on the stocks of General Electric Co or Cisco Systems Inc.

At OneSeason, users can trade real money based on the performance of athletes, teams, leagues and other sports personalities."  Click here to view full article.

I don’t know about you… but I’m all about buy low, sell high. So I’m going to make some investments pronto before everyone else finds out and the “stock” prices shoot up!

Thank you Michael, I commend you on a fantastic idea.

On a side note, I've served up a little side of perspective for you from a friend:

If you had purchased $1,000 of AIG stock one year ago, you would have $42 left.
With Lehman, you would have $6.60 left.
With Fannie or Freddie, you would have less than $5 left.
But if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
    It's called the 401-Keg ...........................................
In light of the current economic conditions, it is always nice to know some investments still hold their value over time!

  • Badgers may lose, but you can still tailgate!

Ahhhh, another great football weekend...well, sort of. At least the Packers finally won!

So we drove down and got to Madison at about 4pm, parked 2 blocks from the stadium for $10, and decided to have a quick drink before trying to track down our friends who were scattered around at 5 different tailgates. I wanted to get moving though! So I said we can't have glass bottles on the street...pour those into plastic cups and let's go!

    We made it 1 block.......

WARNING: You can't have an open beverage anywhere on the street (only at a bar or on specific tailgating property)! Or you will get an immediate, no questions asked, $298 ticket. Not cool.

I explained my outrage at how expensive that is for an innocent mistake, the cop laughed and said, "you should have just gotten caught with marij****, that's only a $106 ticket!" I told him he shouldn't be telling people that...

But you can't let that ruin your game day! So it was off to a few tailgates.

And then there was the WI's favorite pregnant fan. What a trooper! That is going to be one cool baby. :)

This stuffed Badger was mounted on the top of someone's van! They let me hold it, but were trying to make me kiss it to take this photo which is why I look petrified!

Then it was off to the stadium. Stopped at one more crazy, 3-story tailgate, and then it was into the flood of people.

In case you missed the game, it was a total bust! Their team not only embarrased ours, but so did their mascot! While Bucky had to do a minimal amount of regular push-ups, their lion would run out into the end zone everytime Penn State scored and do them 1 handed! I swear he's been training all year for that.

It was decided that the white Badger fan towels that we were all given given were actual white flags to wave (sad), and that the only reason we all sat through the 3rd quarter was to do "Jump Around."

This was the view right after the 3rd... hundreds of fans flooding the streets, leaving the stadium. So were very sad, the others were excited to have extra hours at the bars, and a large group were chanting, "Go Pack Go!"

Despite the loss, it was a great weekend! Check back later this week for week 7 NFL predictions!

  • Tailgating pictures from the weekend!

What a weekend! Badger game on Saturday night AND Packers game on Sunday! And as promised, I got some pretty fun pictures in case you missed the games.

With not much time before the Badger game, we parked on the top level of the ramp, ate some burgers and brats, and headed out to party. Do you like my friend's Badger hat?

Stopped at a few tailgates, but seeing that people had been tailgating for hours already, all of those pictures ended up having inappropriate things in them, haha. We did head to the Stadium View right across the street from the stadium for one serious tailgate party though. I actually used to work there on game days, so the owner, Jim, let me hop up onstage to get these great crowd shots for you!

It was a tough loss for everyone, but I cheered up a bit when I ran into one of my favorite couples outside, Joe Thomas and wife Annie! They are so great and were really pleased when I said how much Bubbler fans love and support them! Oh, and just for some perspective...I am 5'8"... and they make me look waaaaaaayyyy short.

After that, our group headed to the bars, which all had lines outside that wrapped around the block! When we were sent out at bar time, we noticed that we had booked a hotel that was almost an hour away...so like any sane people would do, we started driving in the direction of Green Bay thinking that we could find a hotel room somewhere along that path. Well, we did...a block from Lambeau field at 5:30am. Oops! So we slept for 4 hours, checked out, threw on my new Packers sneaks, and headed to the game.

I met some great tailgaters! Including the miller girls, and some fans still missing their Favre. And I even rode a mechanical bull! Maybe I'll put up that video later this week.  :)

The guy with the facepaint in the picture above is actually 1 of the superfans in the fan hall of fame! He has been wearing this outfit to Packer games for the last 16 years...talk about dedication!

Let check out some of the tailgating rigs:

That one is a bra-mobile that says "Support Green Bay Football!"  And now the best rig of all!

I got to jump up and see how the grill works up there. Oh, and don't forget about the contest for the best recipe that Johnsonville is holding! I'll be a judge at one of the Packer games in November so make sure you make me something good!

Then into the game. We had terrific seats!

Packer flags for everyone! Oh, and on a side note, I just wanted to say that I think we are the only team in the NFL that has wholesome-looking cheerleaders...

Alright, I hope you enjoyed the pics! Check back because I'll be going to lots more games this season and they can only get better from here!
