  • My weekend at the Jets game!

    J...E...T...S   JETS!   JETS!!   JETS!!!

That was the chant that roared throughout the stadium every time the "chant leader" showed up on the big screen (or should I say teeny screen). Thank goodness the Jets and Giants are building a new stadium within rock-throwing distance.

The current one is kind of, well, crappy. You like my seat?!?! I think I was about 10 rows from the top! Quite the hike, but these little guys didn't seem to mind. It's ok guys... you too can grow up to be big scary Jets fans some day!

Ahhhh, how can I describe the experience of going to a Jets game...?? Well, it was like entering a totally different world! First of all, everyone is walking around yelling at each other in these thick New York accents, and they all look like they walked straight out of The Sopranos. Not only did it feel like I was the only blonde in the stadium, but that any wrong move may spark up a shouting match about absolutely nothing. Don't get me wrong...it was freakin hilarious! There was a guy in a Bulger jersey that was clearly a tool bag (sporting a Long Island blowout no less- when you use mass quantities of gel to spike up every last hair on your head), and he got torn to shreds all game long by a group of New Yorkers.

The guy in the Favre jersey was yelling so loud he was actually spitting on the guys in front of him, haha. In addition to the yelling, there was more crap getting thrown around than I've ever seen before! Paper airplane "jets" were being made out of program pages and constantly taking dive-bombs into the stands, hot dog wrappers speeding toward the heads of unsuspecting Rams fans, and beer bottles (plastic, thank god) spraying everywhere as they flew over the railings onto those below after a big play...which there were a lot of that game. I actually purchased a Jets sweatshirt, not only because it was freezing, but also to avoid any verbal altercations.  :)

Then there were the strippers...I mean cheerleaders. I really couldn't tell! They were gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but they whipped their hair around and shook certain things like they came straight out the movie The Replacements. Very entertaining though.

The other big differences were the rap music at breaks instead of the football classics that I'm used to hearing at Lambeau, and the food. I asked if they had any brats or cheese curds and they looked at me like I was crazy and then directed me to the teeny tiny hotdog that I consumed in 1 bite. Disappointing! I wanted some big juicy brat goodness!!!

Where's Johnsonville when you need them?????!!!!!

Anyway, after the Jets had a good feasting of Ram, we headed out of the stadium on mile-long escalators.

And then back to the city! We headed to ESPN Zone in Times Square to catch most of the Steelers game, then went to a Broadway show, and then back to ESPN Zone for the Phili/Giants game which was outrageous by the way! Everything was packed into less than 24 hours too. No one ever said I was inefficient.  :)

Next time I head out I think it'll be to a Giants game, although it was great to see you again Favre!!!!

  • Quick weekend wrap-up...

So obviously this past week was Halloween! And as promised, I took some pictures for you.  :)    But first, I just wanted to touch on how football tryouts went...

I had tryouts for a women's pro football team called the WI Warriors on Sunday and they went great! There was a pretty good turnout so I'm excited for the upcoming season. The next one will be December 14th (it's a Sunday) so watch for time and location info in a few weeks. As far as how I did, I would say pretty well; I am hopeful!

My 40 time sucked so I don't want to talk about it until I get faster (my goal for the season is to run it in 4.9 seconds), I have a decent vertical which I think they clocked in at 15 inches, although I'll have to wait to get the final numbers, and I think I did well in all of the agility drills. I can't throw for anything really, but that's ok because I like defense waaaaaayyyyy better. Right now I'm looking to be a D-back, probably safety, and a wide receiver. But of course it will really depend on where the coaches need me.

Anyway, watch for more updates mid-December!!!!!!

Now for the Halloween pictures (I wish I had more but my camera died!):

     Well hello Michael Phelps...

A 7ft Scooby Doo, crazy cowboy, soldier, and Lionel Richie (he sang the songs 'all night long,' haha.

     A fellow lady-officer.  :)

His costume and character were creepy good!

     Alvin, Simon, Theodore!

This was my favorite part of the night... handcuffing a cop on Water Street! They were giving me tips on the best quality cuffs and the importance of safe words, hahaha. What do you mean??

There were so many other funny costumes! I hope you all got out to see them. Feel free to send pictures into sportsbubbler too and we'll try and post some of them! Hope you enjoyed.
