3 in a row??
Heck yeah! Call me premature, but I would call this a streak of confidence for the Badgers. In response to what he did to help get his guys out of the slump they were in, Bo Ryan says he doesn't care what the team is, the color of their jerseys, or what their names are; win or lose, he tells the guys what they need to fix for the NEXT team that they play. It's up to them to get out of the slump. Krabbenhoft says it's the learning that we're seeing now, from losing those games...that's why they're finally starting to win.
To top off the win tonight, Marcus Landry hit the 1,000 point mark, making him the 7th player to do it under Coach Bo Ryan. When he subbed out towards the end of the game he received a well-deserved standing ovation. When Krabbenhoft and Hughes were commenting after the game on Landry's accomplishment and on what a overall great guy he is, Landry said they were goingto make him cry. It's awesome what a tight-knit group they are.
Coming into tonight’ s matchup: Hawkeyes (13-11) Badgers (14-9)
Score: Half Final
Badgers 36 69
Hawkeyes 24 52
Top scorers: Krabbenhoft- 16; Bohannon- 15; Hughes- 14
One of the big plays of the night: Trevon Hughes makes a huge steal at the end of the 1st resulting in 2. Then out of nowhere Marcus Landry is on the ground, and a technical is called on Hawkeyes #5 Matt Gatens. The crowd goes crazy! Then Bohannon drops a 3 with 1 second left. Nice way to send the Hawkeyes to the locker room!
There was a lot to cheer for all game long as the buckets just kept falling(over 50% shooting in all categories), our big guys kept on the boards, and they played incredible defense (scoring 29 pts off of 14 turnovers). I know the Hawkeyes aren't that great, but they did beat us earlier this season. Why can't they play that well against every team?
There was a lot to look at besides the game tonight…and I’m not just talking about Trevon Hughes’ mini-mohawk (which I loooovvvee)! Meet some of tonight superfans:
