Milwaukee's Women's Pro Football Team Playing 1st Home Game!

 WI Warriors!!!

The Wisconsin Warriors, Milwaukee’s women’s pro football team (my team!), has their first home game this Saturday night at Ameche Field in Kenosha, WI. Ameche is located at Kenosha Tremper High School and kickoff is at 7pm!

From wearing WI Wolves' black for 3 years to the new WI Warriors blue... I like it!  :)  Thank goodness this was taken before all of the bruises!

The WI Warriors are 1 of 47 teams in the Independent Women's Football League andand the league's only WI team. We were originally predicted to be a Tier 1 team, but due to tough economic conditions, sponsors are scarce, and many women had to take up second jobs instead of playing this season, which left our roster a little thin. However, with only 21 players on a good day, the Warriors are surprisingly competitive! This past Saturday we headed down to Chicago to play the Chicago Force, who lost the National Championship game in overtime last season. Their roster has been narrowed down to 70 after cutting a number of the 48 rookies who showed up to their tryouts this year. So, even though we lost 38-20 (gross), the score does not really reflect how close the game actually was and how well we hung in there.

Chicago Force on offense. They have a few more "lineman type" than we do...

With many of our ladies not only playing both ways, but all special teams as well, playing huge teams with endless resources can be tough. But, we are a great team and cannot wait to kick some Iowa Crush butt this Saturday!!!

Here's the schedule for the rest of the year:

I wish you the best. This is my first season of following women's football, and I'm really enjoying it. Now we just need the mainstream media to give you some coverage.
