"Favre is the swine flu of the NFL." Ouch!

As the rumors continue to circulate, one thing is for certain, Brett Favre remains one of the most unpredictable quarterbacks in the NFL. As one of the biggest Favre fans alive, even I'm getting tired of all the "media gossip" around, causing me to wait at least this long to put anything up about it. Too many sources and not enough straight fact... but I still want to keep you all in the loop!

The more I think about it though, the more I realize that he's just an athlete, doing what many athletes do all the time (well, besides the "to retire or not to retire" bit)! Tons athletes get traded, hang out in the free agent market, go to doctors, never want the best thing in their lives to end, and wonder if injury will allow them to continue... but not all are watched every second by the media.

So here's the scoop. Favre is reportedly talking to his doctors about using methods other than surgery to repair his bicep. At 39 years old, a complete and quick recovery after surgery is not as likely compared to, say, a 23 year old. Playing wouldn't be a huge deal if the injury wasn't so painful.

So, according to a source who talked to ESPN, he's looking at things such as cortisone injections, natural movements like light throwing, and biceps curls that might cause the tendon to release naturally. If the tendon releases and the pain subsides, Favre is virtually certain to play again. If he has surgery and his arm strength diminishes or the pain remains, he will remain retired, the source said.

Now we all saw Favre looking especially old during those cold months with the Jets, so what makes Minnesota any better? Well, the Metrodome for one! And with very few "freezing" away games, this old man might actually have a chance.

Lastly, as I was browsing the message boards on the Favre talk, these were some of the more PG comments (sorry Favre):

"Sources say there is already a special helmet being designed by scientists at MIT to fit Favre's massive ego."

"Brett Favre is the Swine Flu of the NFL. "

"dude as a packer fan im disappointed, and i dont think id ever hate brett farve until now, i dont care if he plays on any other team but not the bears lions and vikes! this is terrible but if he can play he will play enough said... "

"THIS JUST IN: An unnamed source said Favre took a dump today, and it resembled one of his most recent performances."

I love Brett Favre! He played every game since like 1991. He ran off the field and threw-up and then returned to play in a game. He turned the laughing stock of the NFL into a real contender. He never bitched about his contract. He threw a touchdown with a concussion. I don't care if he is a diva. I don't care if he does crave attention. This guy WAS Green Bay for 16 seasons and if he plays for the idiot Vikings I will buy the Purple No.4 jersey.
