Buzz' Bunch: Making a Difference

In the short time that Buzz Williams has been Marquette's head basketball coach, one thing has become very clear, that special needs children hold a place very near and dear to his heart. Last season, Williams' first as Marquette's head man, he held three different opportunites for special needs kids to join the Marquette players prior to a game as part of the team. These were very special times, not only for the kids, but for Marquette's players and coaching staff as well. But it wasn't enough.

Williams wanted to do something for them during the summer too, and with all of the basketball camps on campus and around town, Williams felt the special needs children should have one too, so the camp for Buzz' Bunch was put into action.

Today over 200 people, including the members of Buzz' Bunch, their siblings and parents, gathered at the Al McGuire Center on Marquette's campus for a basketball camp. To make it even more special for everyone involved, Williams brought in DJ Gregory to be the featured guest speaker. For those unfamiliar with his name, Gregory has made quite a remarkable story. Inflicted with cerabal palsy, Gregory set out to walk every round on every course of the PGA tour last year. He wrote about his experiences for PGA.com, and when all was said and done, Gregory had logged over 1,000 miles. He has since written a book and speaks to groups all over the country, and couldn't have been more proud to speak to the children of Buzz' Bunch at Marquette today. SportsBubbler wa sthere today, and spoke to Buzz Williams, Lazar Hayward and DJ Gregory about "Buzz' Bunch"...
