Madness is upon us.....

Friday night on college campuses throughout the country, schools will be holding modified versions of Midnight Madness. I only say modified versions as there is no longer the Midnight requirement.

The Al McGuire Center on Marquette's campus in Milwaukee, will be one of those facilities. The dorrs will open at 5:00 and Marquette will start off with the women's volleyball team hosting Georgetown in a Big East matchup at 6:00. Immediately following that game the basketball festivities will begin with the women's program, followed by the men's program. The night will be highlighted by the men's team's highly anticipated slam dunk competition followed by their intrasquad scrimmage, which will give you your first look at the all new 2009-'10 Golden Eagles.

Another important aspect Madness around the country is that it marks the first official event of the basketball season where teams can host recruits. Having been in contact with high school & AAU coaches and players over the last two weeks, here is who I believe will be attending Marquette's Madness on Friday......

  • Jamail Jones - 6'6 Wing from Montverde Academy via Stone Mountain, GA (Verbally committed to Marquette) (Unofficial Visit) (2010)
  • Tarik Black - 6'8 PF from Ridgeway High School in Memphis, TN (Official visit) (2010)
  • Vander Blue - 6'4 Guard from Madison Memorial in Madison, WI (Official Visit) (2010)
  • Branden Dawson - 6'5 Wing from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, IN - (Unofficial Visit) (2011)
  • Keaton Miles - 6'6 forward from Dallas Lincoln in Dallas, TX (Unofficial Visit) (2011)
  • Kyle Anderson - from Newark High School in Newark, IL - (Unofficial Visit) (2011)

With Madness also occuring at places like Memphis (Black) Indiana (Dawson) Illinois (Anderson) and throughout Texas (Miles) getting these people on campus this weekend is a major coup for Marquette Head Coach Buzz Williams.

I will continue to update this list as the week progresses.......

Feel free to leave comments below in the comment section...

Should be an interesting weekend at Marquette.

This is a very, very nice list of players.  One minor correction is that Kyle Anderson is class of 2012, not 2011

I believe he is a junior, class of 2011 - as evidenced here by this photo last year, "Newark sophomore Kyle Anderson pulls down a defensive rebound in Friday night's sectional championship."

Okay, I thought more of the kid from New Jersey who's a top 2012 player and someone I'd guess that all Big East schools have an eye on.

Extremely impressive list. Let's hope Buzz can close the deal with a couple of these studs. That would make for a very nice weekend indeed.

I really like that Black and Blue are on their official visits together.  Hope they both decide to join Jones and commit.  Very impressive list of attendees.
