Brewers Lose First Road Series

The bats awakened too late tonight as the Cardinals held on for a 5-4 victory in game two of the series.  With losses each of the first two days in Missouri, Milwaukee has now lost its first road series of the season.  The Brewers came within an eyelash of tying the game in the ninth but Albert Pujols speared a rocket off the bat of Jason Kendall which would have driven in Craig Counsell with the equalizer.

It was a beautiful day in St. Louis and Ueck and I got out for a round of golf with Bob Costas, who was kind enough to stop by the booth for a visit during the broadcast tonight.  He and my partner taped over an hour's worth of radio for replay around the world this weekend.  It would be worth your time to find it on a station near you or on XM satellite radio.

I will be interested to hear how Gabe Kapler's shoulder feels tomorrow.  When I visited with GM Doug Melvin on the Jockey Pregame Show tonight he was somewhat non-committal about the severity of the injury.  I get the feeling they don't think it is very serious but they aren't 100% positive.

Carlos Villanueva had an off night for sure, and I would hate to be the guy who has to decide who has to make room for Yovanni Gallardo in the rotation.  Both Dave Bush and Villanueva have been largely unimpressive in this series and neither has good numbers for the year.  Next on the hot-seat is Manny Parra, who will start the series finale on Thursday.

If you were the manager or GM, what would you do?
