• Garcia's injury fuels Favre fire

  Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jeff Garcia suffered an injury to his right calf, which forced him to be carted off the field Thursday at the Bucs' training camp practice. The injury only adds to the speculation that the Buccaneers may trade for Brett Favre with the Green Bay Packers despite Tampa Bay head coach Jon Gruden downplaying the severity of Garcia's injury. • Packers report to camp, Favre does not

  The Green Bay Packers report to training camp today, even though the first practice is not until Monday. Players were supposed to report by 7:30 a.m., but Brett Favre was not among them. In a story released on Sports Illustrated's website , Favre said, "I had planned on reporting for the start of Packers training camp Sunday, but Ted Thompson asked if I would give him a couple of days to try to get the situation resolved. I agreed to do that. I don't want to be a distraction to the Packers, and I hope in the next few days we can come to an agreement that would allow me to continue... • Could Favre command a first round pick?

  The Green Bay Packers are reportedly looking for a first round draft choice as compensation for a possible trade involving quarterback Brett Favre. The information comes from a league source as told to by ESPN's Michael Smith , but "the same source added that no team is likely to meet that asking price." It's also known that both the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have received permission to talk to Favre. Of the two, the Jets seem to show the most interest while the Bucs have publicly shunned the attention. They may just be playing coy, however. Current Jets quarterback...
