• Packers make correct move releasing Peterson

  When the Green Bay Packers had to trim down their roster to the maximum 80 players under contract, they had some tough moves to make. Among them was releasing tight end Michael Peterson, one of six tight ends on the roster. The Packers certainly could get by with five tight ends during training camp, but they had to outbid several teams for Peterson's services and give him a signing bonus, which is gone for good. • Packers waive Quagmire

  The Green Bay Packers have waived tight end Michael "Quagmire" Peterson, which shows that they're close to signing more of their draft choices. The Packers continually have to be under the 80 man roster limit for players under contract, so nearly every draft choice they sign means another player having to leave the team. Peterson likely ended up a little shorter than the Packers would have liked at 6-2. The other three rookie tight ends the Packers brought in are all at 6-5 or higher.
