The Spalding company in conjunction with the NBA announced today that the Milwaukee Bucks "most grueling schedule in the league" excuse has been used once too many times. Mo

As a Marques diehard, last thing I want to see is Michael Redd surpassing the greatest small forward in Bucks history in any capacity.

There are those who would like to saddle the Bucks with Redd for years and years and have him retire as a Buck, yet Redd has given his defenders so little ammunition of late to puff up their devotion. He's had a couple of decent shooting games lately (he's very streaky, not a 50 percent shooter like Marques was) but the rest of us are still waiting for Skiles to demand a fix for the big hole he leaves in the defense, not to mention the downer effect in general that Redd brings to the Bucks attitude.

The stats don't lie about the dump the Bucks defense has taken since he's been back, nor about the miserable road trip West. It's also apparent in watching the games, which is a good thing for Bucks fans to do.

Trade Michael Redd? Yeah, if the goal is to win 7 games.

This second round upstart just keeps getting better. From almost undrafted to All-Star, to Captain, to Gold Medalist, and now whomever J.D. Schmoe is, he wants to seriouslyT-R-A-D-E the guy? Michael Redd is about to shatter Marques Johnson's scoring mark with the Bucks and has a great shot (since it's Michael, that shot will probably be a 3-pointer!) in ejecting Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from All-Time Bucks Scoring Champ.

And J.D. Schmoe wants to derail that?

Is Schmoe a Bucks fan?

Mo

That's why I think these next five games, beginning with Indiana tonight, are so important. As fans, we'd like to know whether there is some hope this team can be competitive. The Pacers are right behind them in the East standings; the Sixers are 1/2 game ahead of them and right behind the Knicks; the Heat are 12-10; and the Clippers are 5-17. It's time for the Bucks to figure out how to win.

I also think their intensity level has dropped since Redd came back from his ankle injury. His first game back vs. Chicago was a great team effort and a convincing win -- they never let the Bulls get much going. The four games since then have been filled with let downs, and in the last three they just folded. That wasn't happening when Redd was out. Remember when the Bucks took the Celtics into overtime? It seems a long time ago to me.

These guys just dont know how to play winning nba basketball.
