  • Daily Drink March 31st - Opening Day

Remember, if your bracket is busted, you can still win prizes in the round by round section of our March Mania contest.

It's Opening Day. Baseball starts again. There is simply no greater time of the year. It's the Brewers and Cubs today from Wrigley Field. (assuming the weather holds off) Here's the sportsbubbler.com Series Preview. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Preview. Cub fans are in love with tomorrow. Can the Cubs live up to a century of expectations? Our blog the Junkball Blues has some pretty good insight into the Cubs pitchers. What's new at Wrigley this year? The Chicago Sun-Times looks at 100 years of ineptitude. Bugs and Cranks releases their first Power Rankings of the season. If you missed it last week, here's Jim Powell's season preview. ESPN has their predictions out. Of their 19 'experts' 17 of them pick the Cubs. Check out this classic picture.

ESPN's Eric Young is excited about today's Pitching Match Up.

    Don't forget to play Whack-A-Cub!

Friday night was Michael Flowers vs. Stephen Curry and it wasn't even close. Curry continued his torrid tournament play by dropping 33 on the Badgers. Why Wisconsin didn't try to put the ball in the paint was surprising, you've got the size advantage, use it. The Badgers shooting was ice cold and were a step to slow to hang with Davidson on Friday night. Although, it wasn't just Curry, point guard Jason Richards played a masterful game too. Same as last week it came down to guard play. Pat Forde attacks Bo's postseason record. If you must watch, here are the game highlights from CBS.

    Here's Bo's Postgame comments

Badger Centric gives a nice recap. With Leather says The Big Ten Still Sucks. The season was nothing to cry about.

In not so shocking news, the Bucks lost on Saturday night. And Friday night too. Here's Saturday's high/lowlights.

If you get a minute, take a look at this video. We had the opportunity to hang out with the Bucks 40th Anniversary team on Friday. We sat down with Eddie Doucette, Oscar Robertson and others. Eddie Doucette's interview alone is worth the price of admission.

A soccer video on Opening Day? Yeah I know....but I still think it's a hell of a goal. The slo-mo replay at the very end is worth it.

We've heard all week long about Stephen Curry, tonight hopefully Wisconsin can quite that talk.

Did you know Larry Brown's first coaching job was at Davidson? He left before the season ever started. Here is list of 9 other quirky things about Davidson that you never knew, nor care to know.  Coach McKillop is the Wildcats inspiration. Stephen Curry is a son of a gun. Dreams and reality collide in Detroit. Stephen Curry didn't spend much time in Milwaukee with his dad. The story behind Davidson using Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline. The Chicago Tribune looks at Flowers vs. Curry. Nearly 300 Davidson students took the offer of a free trip to Detroit to watch the game. There is more to Badgers basketball than meets the eye. Depth perception at Ford Field could cause some missed shots. Friendship fuels Davidson Duo. The Badgers will be on the defensive again tonight. A look at couple of tonight's match-ups and another look here. The players take Ryan's coaching to heart. It's the UW Basketball Family Plan. Badger Centric keys to the game.
Jason Bohannon talks to the Big Ten Network about the Davidson game.

Today's MUST READ: Milwaukee Brewers announcer Jim Powell's 2008 Brewers Preview. Wow.

We'll wrap up our Brewers preview today with a ranking of the teams in the NL Central from top to bottom. As I've been saying all week, if you hate the Cubs come back to the site later today and you'll have a lot of fun.

Remember, if your bracket is busted, you can still win prizes in the round by round section of our March Mania contest.

Last night at the Bradley Center was the McDonald's All-American game. East beat the West in a rather low scoring game, 107-102. Not a whole lot of jump shots, just a lot of dunks. Todd Rosiak has a nice recap story. Also in town last night were lots of agents, trying to scope out future clients. Here are the highlights from last night.

At Wisconsin, it's Ryan's rules. Tomorrow night will be more than just Flowers vs. Curry. It's all about making shots, or is it? Badgers and Davidson mirror each other. This post season run is great for the freshman. Inside or outside, Krabbenhoft will defend. The Badgers just keep getting better. Curry can be contained. What's in store for the Sweet 16. Sixteen players to watch this weekend. Deadspin's Midwest Region Preview. Who will make it out alive this weekend?

Standford's Robin Lopez is dating Michelle Wie.

Deadspin has your NL Central Preview. We'll continue our preview of the NL Central today with a second look at the offense. Remember, if you hate the cubs, we'll have a treat for you tomorrow. SI's Tom Verducci has a National League Preview. Ryan Braun is on the cover of this weeks Sports Illustrated along with other players from the '05 draft class. In the issue they predict the Brewers to finish 3rd in the division behind the Cubs and Reds. Check out two new Brewers blogs we have here at SportsBubbler - Between the Green Pillars and The Junkball Blues. Both are pretty damn good. We're also looking for fans of others teams to write for us here at sportsbubbler.com, so if you're interested in writing for us, shoot me an e-mail dan@sportsbubbler.com

If anyone cares, I doubt that most do, but the Bucks lost last night.

Here is some video from the Bonecrushers home game last Friday night at the cell

And some Bonecrushers Fans who should have kept their shirts on.

OK, I have to admit, I'm a little torn on this one.  Part of me thinks this is great, part of me thinks I should hate this, but I don't. She's a babe, drinks beer and likes football, so that helps. Without further introduction, I present to you Annette Summersett

    And she wrote this song

You can download it over at her myspace page. Your thoughts on the song? email me dan@sportsbubbler.com  Kudos to Daily Drink reader 'Post-it Note" Paul for sending over the link from Railbird Central.

    Get to know Davidson

    Team Preview: Wisconsin

    Team Preview: Davidson

Fox Sports says, see you later Cinderellas. CBS asks, how does Bo do it? SI's Seth Davis breaks down the Sweet 16. Badger Centric says, Dream Big Badger Fan. Davidson is more than a Cinderella.

The Bucks are in Atlanta tonight to face the Hawks. Brew Hoop has preview story

The Crew let Claudio Vargas go yesterday. Between the Green Pillars has some thoughts on it.

Hate the Cubs? Of course you do. Well, a Cub fan has given us another reason to mock and hate them, right here. Seriously, who does something like that? What kind of man would want to look like such a loser? I think that website proves why he's still single. I've known a lot of losers over the years, but this guy takes the cake. Then I see a Cub fan like this and I become conflicted.

Don't worry Mr. Enberg, I'd stare too.

Sadly, this commercial will never air in America.

Not that you needed anymore evidence, but the Bucks are awful. There is no silver lining, nothing. Miami is the worst team in the NBA. They scored a whopping 54 points in a game last week. The Heat was missing 4 of their regular starters, so it was the Bucks vs. Miami's bench and the Bucks didn't stand a chance. Heck, even Pat Riley has checked out, as he was in Omaha over the weekend scouting OJ Mayo & Michael Beasley. Yet, he still out-coached Krystowiak.

Chad Ford of ESPN makes his early picks on the NBA draft and has the Bucks taking Danilo Gallanari. That gets you pretty pumped, doesn't it? He's from Italy, which would cover another continent for the Bucks - Europe (just in case you didn't know where Italy was). I realize the readership of the Daily Drink aren't the brightest lightbulbs in the world so I figured I'd spell it out for you.

ESPN's Bill Simmons is still waiting for a phone call from Herb Kohl.

If you're looking for something to do while you wait for the Badgers to play on Friday, head downtown Wednesday night for the McDonald's All-American game. You can check out a photo gallery of the kids hanging out in the hotel on Sunday here.  Here's a breakdown of Sunday's practice. A look at Wednesday's match-ups. Last night was the Powerade Jamfest at the Cell, ESPN 2 will air that tonight at 11:30pm. Wednesday night's game starts at 8:30 and will be carried live on ESPN, so get your tickets now so it's not an empty arena on National TV. Here's a photo gallery from last night's Powerade Jamfest.

Speaking of filling the Bradley Center up with people... Steve Jagler of the Small Business Times looks into what should/will happen to the Bradley Center. It's worth the read, along with the comments from readers.

The Marquette women's team beat Creighton at the Al McGuire Center last night in the WNIT. In my early years, Marquette vs. Creighton was a big game for the men's teams. Both Jesuit schools played 19 out of 20 years during the 70's & 80's, but haven't played since Marquette joined a conference in the '89-90 season, leaving their Independent status behind. With Creighton usually being at the top of the MVC, I think it is a rivalry that should be brought back into the fold.

Jay Bilas has nice things to say about Tom Crean, Dominic James and Jerel McNeal.

Where's Davidson? In the Sweet 16. Michael Flowers is ready for his chance to shutdown Stephen Curry. Badger Centric reviews the sweet 16. NY Times looks at  Curry's performance. Apparently, Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline is Davidson's theme song?

SportsBubbler.com will breakdown the NL Central all week long. Yesterday we looked at the Starting Rotations. Today, we'll look at the Bullpens. Hate the Cubs? Of course you do, so stay tuned to SportsBubbler this week......

These guys are coming to the Marcus Amphitheater in August with Maroon 5...
