Not a great weekend as the Brewers only took one of three. But, they're now only 4.5 games back of the Cubs, who have finally come back to reality after being swept by the White Sox this weekend. (Shocking: Cubs and White Sox fans can't sit together without throwing punches, stay classy Chicago!)
Manny Parra and Co. were able to stop the red hot Twins for one day. Other than that, it was a fairly forgettable weekend series in MSP. Not much to say about the Brewers offense yesterday. It was completely dominated by Slowey. That's twice this year he's killed us, at least this time he only did with his arm and not his bat.
Jim Powell checked in on Saturday from MSP. Damn, Eric Gagne is back. The Junkball Blues takes a stab at Offensive Efficiency. Between the Green Pillars looks at making a trade for a starting pitcher and diversity in baseball. The outstanding Brewers Nation looks at some starting pitching possibilities. The Bucky Channel doe a great job of laying out why CC Sabathia is more likely than you think. Andrew over at Grand National Champs gives the Brewers some mid-season grades. No surprise, Eric Gagne gets a F+. Mr. Mota, if you actually got guys out, you wouldn't have to appeal to the league to lower your ERA. Remember Tom Filer? Seamshead does. Two fisted slopper puts together a list of what went wrong, a follow up to what went right. The aggressive Brewers are heading to AZ.
For those of you with the NFL network, tonight they're airing Favre's debut game against the Bengals from 1992. Chuckie Hacks likes the idea of more blitzing from the Packers D. A feature on the Thompson brothers. Not one, but two stories on Mike McCarthy and his new family. Still plenty of holes for the Packers to fill. The Packers are looking at former Lions RB Kevin Jones. A couple Packers make this top 50 list. Expect more Blitzes this season. So the NFL does a feature on top 10 runs, catches and plays from the past NFL season and not a single Packers play. Really? Not a single Ryan Grant run was good enough? Yet, they show show 5 Purple Jesus runs? Not a single Favre play?
The postgame from the Packers - Bengals game in '92
Music notes recaps the Bucks draft night. Bucks Diary believes that Richard Jefferson's defense is in decline, and Bogut can become an elite player. BrewTownBeat has a draft recap. The Bucks need a Point guard.

Alexander the Great? We'll see. Take a look back as we talked to him after his first workout with the Bucks.
Atomic Trousers says all is right in the world with this pick. BrewHoop has some well written final draft day thoughts. Awful Announcing had an incredible live draft blog going last night. The Bratwurst is surprised and annoyed. CBS Sports likes the pick. Yahoo Sports likes it too. Bucks Diary isn't completely sold on Alexander. Neither is ESPN's Chad Ford. Sports News isn't impressed. John Hammond is starting to make his mark. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute was picked at #37, why another SF? I have no idea, especially after the Jefferson trade. However, Bucks Diary wonders if he's the next Carl Landry. Chad Ford likes him too.
All that possible money from China - gone. The Bucky Channel is in favor of the trade. I'm in favor of the picture he used. MVN examines the trade. ScoresReport loves the trade. Jefferson and Alexander provide a face-lift. The Bucks have a centerpiece and it's Michael Redd.
Our Twins - Brewers series preview is up. Worth a click simply for the photo attached with it. Fox Sports has a video story on Ben Sheets. They also have a video on how tough the NL Central is. Ryan Braun talked to NBC Sports about chasing his idol, Ken Griffey Jr. on the all-star ballot. Between the Green Pillars asks, what to do with Eric Gagne. Who by the way, stunk up the joint with Nashville last night - 2 H, 1 BB and 2 ER in 2/3 of an inning. Milwaukee and Tampa Bay in the lead for CC Sabathia? Bugs and Cranks imagines what CC would look like in a Brewers uniform. Two Brewers prospects will be playing in the futures game. The Cubs lost only their 3rd home series of the year, to the Orioles. The other two? Brewers and Brewers.
Chuckie Hacks gets the post of the day, for showing why more Twins fans come to Miller Park, than Brewers fans head to the Metrodome. Hint: Because the dome is a dump!
Aaron Rodgers sits down with Jim Rome. The more he talks, the more confident I am that he'll do just fine this season.
The slow economy is hurting the Packers stadium tax revenue. Nick Barnett received a warm welcome in his home town of Fontana.
The Badgers received a commitment from a TE in Ohio.
Check out our video and interviews from the BBQ on MU's campus. Marquette's Ousmane Barro gets mentioned in a Chicago Tribune story. Apparently, Marquette has a commitment from Liam McMorrow.
Deadspin was the place to be yesterday as creator and editor Will Leitch was roasted on his way out the door. Check out each roast. #1 - Big Daddy Balls #2 - Lots of people #3 - Live Blog #4 - ESPN's Bill Simmons #5 - Costas Now Redux (must watch) #6 - Every Day Should Be Saturday. #7 - His old roommate. #8 - The Dugout #9 - Kissing Suzy Kolber #10 - ESPN's Scott Van Pelt. #11 - Hall of Fame.
I really think it was our interview with Will that made him want to quit.
This is an interesting way to pull your hamstring.
Deuce of Davenport is excited for the return of original recipe Schlitz.
Houston Texans Cheerleaders.
For those of you on Facebook, join our SportsBubbler group.
So I was criticized in the comments yesterday for attempting to put Jill Wagner in my Top 10 babes list

Here was Post-it Note Paul's List (with my 2 cents) of better looking women:
Angelina Jolie - (nope, old, busted and flat out crazy) Megan Fox - (yes) Scarlett Johansson (yes) Marisa Miller (she was good until she hung out with the cubs) Charlize Theron (no way) Rachel Bilson (ok) Keely Hazell (I have no idea who this is) Minka Kelly (yes) Kristen Bell (not a fan of CW chicks) Laura Vandervoort (I have no idea who this is either)
Why did I post his list? So I could post pictures of
Megan Fox...

And more importantly Scarlett Johansson

Don't worry boys, I'll have a complete top 10 list for you on Monday in a separate post.
A quick look at bands playing this weekend at Summerfest.
Sevendust - Enemy Phil Vasser - 6 pack summer Flobots - Handlebars Rusted Root - Send me on my way Pete Francis of Dispatch - Shooting Star and the ambulance
Tonight's Must See? It's a no brainer, Rush.
Here's a couple for Saturday...
Blondie - Dreaming Lucinda Williams (opening for Mellencamp) - Can't Let Go Old 97's - Murder or a heart attack
and Sunday......
Polyphonic Spree - Light & Day Jack's Mannequin - Dark Blue
Sunday's must see? Galactic

Here's what's on tap in today's Daily Drink

Jorge Campillo denied the Brewers a sweep of the Atlanta Braves. Jeff Suppan pitched a decent game, but Campillo was just that much better. The Brewers got on the board in the third. Mike Cameron surprised everyone with a bunt, which thanks to an error landed him on third. Mike Rivera dusted off the cobwebs and lined a double to bring in Cameron. After a sacrifice, Rickie Weeks brought in Rivera. Unfortunately, that's all the Brewers could muster. Suppan gave up two runs to the Braves in the 3rd and 5th which pretty much sealed his fate. Overall 2 of 3 on the road from the Braves is pretty damn good start to the road trip.
Jim Powell talks about booing, maples bats and more in his most recent blog post. Zach Braddock was the SportsBubbler.com prospect of the week. Between the Green Pillars says, Ben Sheets, we hardly knew ya. The Junkball Blues looks at Power/Speed. Chuckie Hacks takes a look at the much injured Ben Sheets. In-Between Hops returns with a nice post on the Crew. Signed Brewers draft pick Jake Odorizzi was named USA Today's High School Player of the Year. Brewers unsigned draft pick Brett Lawrie is going to be playing for Team Canada. Hey, at least Bill Hall hasn't choked Doug Melvin.
So will the Bucks go with Joe Alexander or Anthony Randolph? Draft Express has no doubt the Bucks take Alexander. SI says Alexander. ESPN's Chad Ford - Alexander and Damjan Rudez in round two. Bucks Diary has a great post on how the Bucks could learn a thing or two from the Brewers Draft. Bucks Diary also wonders if the Heat are really that stupid. The Bratwurst wonders if John Hammond reads his blog. Alex over a BrewHoop (who's wise beyond his years) takes a look at some possible second round steals. So I see Charles Gardner in the elevator and say how I think Alexanders ability to speak Mandarin Chinese is going to be a huge asset and he goes a blogs about it. Play the NBA Draft drinking game!
Brett is not in any hurry to do anything. The Bleacher Report looks at the Post Favre era.
The Badgers have teamed up with Victoria's Secret. Pro Fantasy Sports ranks the Badgers Defense at #14. Bielema locked up two more commitments. The Badgers are quickly becoming a farm team for the Ducks. Badger Centric has a quick review of Wisconsin's year. We have a nice feature profile on Brian Butch.
Marquette held a Texas style BBQ yesterday on campus. We took a boatload of video, interviewing players, coaches etc. We should have that posted later today. Marquette is looking to add NC State to their schedule.
Because I'm a glutton for punishment, here's some video of me humiliating myself yesterday at the BBQ.
The Majik Man rocks out on the guitar!
(h/t Packone) The LPGA is bringing SexyBack. Video of John Daly hitting a golf ball off of a beer can. The Onion sports section is on fire this week. Next time you might want to make sure your ski is strapped on. I don't care for the Minnesota Vikings, I do care for their cheerleaders. Woah. It's the opening of the Greatest Music Festival in the World. I've been teasing bands all week, so here's a quick rundown of today's bands worth seeing Stevie Wonder on Sesame StreetThey Might Be Giants in your soul. Cowboy Mouth telling us what Jenny said. Three Dog Night's Favorite NumberLittle Big Town country babes. The Animals in the rising sunDrowning Pool as they hit the floor. All those will be good shows, but Thursday's Must See? Gnarls Barkley.
Well, they may not be playing summerfest but they released a new album this week - Great Big Sea
Saving the best for last, meet Jill Wagner, the Daily Drink Babe of the Week You may recognize her as the one from all those Mercury Mariner TV commercials, She also is on the new ABC show Wipeout. Gentlemen, where does Jill Wagner rank? Top 5? Top 10? Who is she above or below? (besides you, in your dreams) If you read this at 10am this morning, you'll be reading while I'm having this done. Why? because they found this last year.

Although he nearly blew it last night, he still deserves a posting of his picture.

Nice job Mr. Torres, you continue to make it harder and harder for Yost to let Gagne back into the closer role. (Gagne pitched 1ip, 1k, 14 pitches/9 strikes last night for Nashville)
Who is this guy named Dave Bush? What happened to the Dave Bush we know and loath? The one who is painfully inconsistent and would pitch 4-5 good innings and then implode? Dave Bush had his second impressive (quality) start in a row. 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R and 5 K's. The offense, for the first time in ages, didn't go yard but still provided enough offense to get the win. The small ball of singles in the first, Dave Bush then sacrificing over Jason Kendall in the 2nd & 4th, who would eventually score both times, was all the Brewers needed last night The Brewers were definately aided by the Braves 4 errors last night too. My only tip for today for the sweep, don't pitch to Mark Teixeira, that guy is crushing everything in sight. The Brewers have now won 4 straight on the road and with a win today, it will be the first time they've won five in a row on the road since 2004..
FSN interviews Dave Bush after the game. Jim Powell answered your questions during the game, read them here. The Junkball Blues looks at Ben Sheets and his quality starts, impressive stuff. BrewCrewBall interviewed Brewers first round draft pick Jake Odorizzi. Brew Crew Pub wants to know, are the Brewers really that good? An Orioles blogger talks about their trip to Milwaukee. Here's the Atlanta's newspaper version of the game. Cubs fans are just now realizing that Joe Morgan is the Dusty Baker of broadcasting.
Yesterday I said "sign Ben Sheets", last night he says "I'm testing the market after the season". He appears annoyed with the Brewers for not offering him a contract prior to the season. Gee Ben, when was the last time you went an entire season injury free? Your durability was in question, why do you think they didn't offer?
The Bucks appear to be leaning towards Joe Alexander (if they don't trade up or down) - ESPN has in interview with him.
The Bucks tried out former Badger Brian Butch yesterday, watch our video right here. John Hammond and Dave Babcock are also in there. D-Wade is a fan of OJ Mayo. Damn, our invite must have got lost in the mail. BrewHoop looks at some of the latest rumblings. Bucks Diary looks at 3 sure things for the draft. Bucks aren't the Celtics so they have to build for the future.
ESPN previews the NFC North
They also have a story to go with it - High expectations in Green Bay. RailBird Central looks at the looming cuts. According to Packer geeks, the NFL's DUI problem doesn't make sense.
Badger Centric looks back at the Badgers Spring Game. Look out people, we have a Kevin Cosgrove sighting.
BrewTownBeat is still upset at Tom Crean.
The Bayshore Bombers hit the field for the first time in 3 weeks last night. We played well and had a 1 run lead through 4 innings until we gave up 16 runs in one inning. They batted around until we finally recorded an out.
Gene Mueller looks at what I thankfully missed at the College World Series, the skullet.
Thanks to Daily Drink readers, The Butler Brian, Johnny Wad and Brother Matt for sending over this video.....but..
It's Fake. It's part of a viral marketing campaign for the makers of Gatorade. Nice job Gatorade. It worked.
Sometimes, it's too easy....for a free t-shirt......what movie is this from? (check the comments, Post it Note Paul already got it. Although he's not technically a staff member, he just writes the drink when I'm gone, I'm posting a new graph at the bottom of the drink)

klwillis45, you are still ineligible to win a t-shirt.
A second t-shirt goes to the first person to name this Brewer.....(note you can't win both, only one)

ah, a St. Louis Rams Cheerleader.
UPDATED Graph contest - which Saturday Night Live member played Sean Connery from this skit?
