August 22nd Daily Drink: Pickles, Beets, TV, Baseball instant replay, Broncos and Michael Phelps Olympic hook up

First off, I don't think I made a fool of myself on TV yesterday. You may disagree. I hope to have a borgarted version of it sometime today. But we ran over a whole bunch of topics. Brewers playoff run, Miller Park attendance, can they catch the Cubs, instant replay, Packers offense, defense and broncos preview. Then the final segment was on the Badgers, Olympics and the Bucks. It was a little strange when a guy on the treadmill next to me at the Y was yelling "That's you, that's you!" when the show first came on yesterday. The TV's at the Y were small 20 inch screen tvs, I can only imagine how scary it looked on a 52 inch flat screen. Thanks again to Dennis Krause for inviting me on to the 413th episode of the show. He claims he'll have me back on the show. I'll believe it when I see it.

Our own Gridiron Girl talked to Manny Parra and David Riske, watch the video right here.

Reminder, for those of you in Milwaukee, the Brewers game will on 94.5 WKTI as the Packers game will be on 620 WTMJ.

Today's Must Read - Bernie's Crew does a wickedly awesome breakdown of the Brewers opponents for the remaining games. Plus, it's only part one, part two is on its way. The New York Sun looks at the three team race in the NL Central. The Junkball Blues doesn't understand the fascination with Brewers Prospect Alcides Escobar. Is there a Time Warner Cable Curse? Vote for Mat Gamel in USA Today's minor league player of the year. BrewTownBeat interviews Steve Braun, Ryan's brother, who's in the Brewers minor league system. Yost sticks with his starting pitches. We'll have a Brewers Pirates preview later this morning.

Time for your daily.....

The Brewers record when they.........Score First: 45-22 Opponent Scores First: 28-33, Out-hit Opponent : 47-10, Out-hit by Opponent: 14-44, Hit Totals Even: 11-1, Commit An Error: 31-31, Commit No Errors: 41-24, Leading After 7 Innings: 54-5, Trailing After 7 Innings: 8-41, Tied After 7 Innings: 10-9.

No Mose today, we couldn't find him anywhere, he was probably at the movie theater watching the Rocker.

Thanks to the Polish Pickle from Madison who sent over some T-shirts yesterday from the company he works for, which was our T-shirt of the day. Brilliant.

Is it a must win for the Packers?

The Capital Times does a story on Larry McCarren. Expect to see the starters play the entire first half. Bleacher report looks at the Packers impact rookies. A Broncos blog looks at the Packers. Aaron Rouse is still stuck in a log jam. Acme Packing Company has a preview of tonight's game. Cheesehead.tv reminds us former Packers coach Bob Slowik is now with the Broncos. 5 Things to watch for tonight. Thin at tackle, rich at linebacker. Another 5 things to watch. Packers on the bubble.

Kissing Suzy Kolber is not impressed Packer fans.

The ESPN NFC North blog is looking for Packers fan blogs to link to. I suggest you send him an e-mail and suggest our own Railbird Central. I would also nominate Cheesehead.tv (even though they refer to us as "the man" and not in a good way) and Brats and Beers.

Highlights from last years game in Denver

The Bob Boozer Jinx examines Bogut's injury and more photos of Australia's Lauren Jackson. Today it's USA vs. Argentina at 9:15am.

Mark Stewart interviews the 14 year old kid who committed to the Badgers Hockey team. A little early to be committing/offering? Sure. But if the Badgers didn't offer early, they would have lost out to another school.

Matt LePay was on Sports Central with Bill Michaels last night, here's what he had to say. Bleacher report has the Badgers at #11  and says "The only problem facing Bret Bielema and the Badgers offense is that they have five quarterbacks on the roster with a combined zero starts as a Badger." The love of sports has the Badgers at #12 and says "The key will be how the Badgers handle an unprecedented Big 10 schedule to begin conference play." The KC Star has the Badgers at #10. Chicago Tribune examines the Badgers with a focus on Travis Beckum. TriCitySports has the Badgers at #7. McFadden is going to be your starting Middle linebacker.

Wag's Words has an update on two-a-days.

Slamball is coming to CBS.

Instant Replay? Deuce of Davenport has 5 other things baseball needs to add. Completely agree about the cheerleaders. They need to come out and do more than just toss T-shirts. Like these Marlins cheerleaders

Michael Phelps was seen swapping saliva with this lady, Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice.

SportsbyBrooks is going to be on the D-List on ESPN 540 this morning.

Random music video of the day.....

The Weekend Six Pack will be posted later with the Greatest Tailgate Truck. Ever.

This Packers bumping the Brewers around the radio dial is just stupid. It's a preseason game, who cares? (In my case, it's the Packers, who cares?) Move the Packers game to a new station.

This also applies to Madison, where the Brewers will get bumped in afternoon midweek games to not interfere with Rush Limbaugh.

Stupid rant, but it bugs me.

Burnie,

I'll be curious to see what happens when a Brewers playoff game airs at the same time as a Packers game.

I don't think 620 will ever give up the Packers.  When it comes down to it Packers will beat the Brewers everyday of the week.  Now postseason may change that, both teams have not been good at the same time before...

Does TMJ even have discretion on which game to air? I wouldn't be shocked if their locked into the Pack as part of their carriage contact.

If I remember correctly, last year they moved a preseason game to either ESPN or SSP and TMJ carried a Brewers Cubs game. I'm almost positive TMJ won't move a Packers regular season game because of the contract. So if the Sept 28 game is for all the marbles in the NLC. The Brewers game would still be on KTI.

I'll try to get some clarification for you guys about the playoffs.
