No Complaints

No complaints, it was a rewarding season. No complaining about Rickie Weeks defense. No complaining about Corey Hart imitating Chuckie Carr. No complaining about Jeff Suppan not doing what we paid him to do. Saturday night made it all worthwhile. All the frustration from the season went out the window on Saturday night. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had a ball game. Miller Park was electric, it was as loud as I had ever heard it. I got enough exercise just from going back and forth from sitting/standing the entire game. Had a chance to meet Bart/Winks from the Bucky Channel at the game. The only thing I couldn't figure out was some people in front of us were yelling at people for standing and cheering. It's been 26 years people! Stand up and cheer the whole game!! Brewers fans have every right to be proud of their team and themselves, despite what this clown from Philly had to say.

The frustrating part? This was a very winnable series. The Phillies didn't really dominate, we handed it to them on a silver platter. I would have really liked our chances with CC taking the mound on Tuesday on full rest.

Did the Brewers play like the September Brewers in the playoffs? Sure did. Next year let's hope they play like the August Brewers. Does Doug Melvin has his work cut out for him? You better believe it. First and foremost, he needs to find a pure leadoff hitter, one that hits for average and has a high OPS. If that means letting Mike Cameron go, then so be it. This team has enough home run hitters, he's expendable. More on moves later.

Spring Training can't get here soon enough.

Stay tuned to the 'ol Bubbler all week as we'll have stories on what the Brewers need to do in the offseason all this week.

I was there too man.  What happened to getting a beer?

I refused to sit down the entire game.  It was pretty much me and two other guys in our section that started a chant every 2-3 minutes.  The louder the crowd got, the better they played.  It was as close as i've ever seen Miller Park be to a playoff game at Lambeau.  One good thing for me is I'm broke, so that playoff money can go to next season.  It's sad, but i have to take something positive out of this.

Is it just me, or is Corey Hart turning into Rob Deer? He should expect nothing but sliders low and away in 2009.

Akittell I never put your number in my phone. So I'll have to get you a beer another time.

meiske, if Corey ever stops swining at those pitches he'll avoid the rob Deer tag, but right now, he's well on his way.

they need to finally make that trade for brian Roberts.  Solves 3 things, Defense, Leadoff hitter and another left handed bat in the lineup.  bye weeks, you ass...

Also, please dont give the job to Sveum, he did very little to get this team in the playoffs.  If we want to go further we need a manager with some experience and not an ex-brewer...

I would like Roberts but he seems to be the owners pet.

If you could swing a deal you'd have to make sure you could extend him, he's a FA after 09.

The free agent market is very slim, especially with regard to leadoff hitters.  There are so many possibilities.  Some have higher risk than others (Gamel at third or trading Prince, even moving JJ to second or third and bringing up Escobar).  Whatever the situation may be, this is going to be one of the funnest off seasons in recent memory.  There is considerable flexibility in the budget and in the minor leagues.

Think about it... our bullpen next year will have Todd Coffey, Tim Dillard, Mark DiFelice and Mitch Stetter.  That, my friends, is wicked cheap and very serviceable.  The rotation of Bush, Soup, Parra and Gallardo doesn't intimidate any one, but that proves good for us.

I'm already excited about the Winter Meetings.
