The past week started with a lot of promise;
Now with six straight losses, this team is looking into the abyss.
A lost weekend in Peoria that happened quite fast;
Then, three games vs. a 70 win team was like putting a match to some gas.
Yet, hope is still alive because of the rest of this lot;
Somehow the Rattlers are only two games out of a wild card spot.
Remember, too that there is just over a month to go 'til the curtain will fall
Let's not waste another moment. Time for this Week in Timber Rattlers Baseball.
The bus got in at 5am, I had a few things to do for a live TV remote almost immediately after getting off the bus, and a six game losing streak is something about which it is not easy to write. So, I'm going to let my buddy Warren Zevon take over with some lyrics to describe each game. Click the link for the boxscore. I would say "Guess the songs in the comments", but they should all be pretty easy.
Friday, July 24; @Wisconsin 5, Dayton 4 (11 innings):
Things got hot in El Salvador
CIA got caught and couldn't do no more
He's got diplomatic immunity
He's got a lethal weapon that nobody sees
Looks like another threat to world peace

Saturday, July 25; @Peoria 9, Wisconsin 1:
She looked only at my chart
The valleys and the peaks
Brought back the time she broke my heart
In Macgillycuddy's Reeks
Macgillycuddy's Reeks
Macgillycuddy's Reeks
That was the time she broke my heart
In Macgillycuddy's Reeks
Sunday, July 26; @Peoria 12; Wisconsin 5:
Some days I feel like my shadow's casting me
Some days the sun don't shine
Sometimes I wonder what tomorrow's gonna bring
When I think about my dirty life and times
Monday, July 27; @Peoria 2, Wisconsin 1:
Heartache spoken here
I know a thing or two about heartbreak and tears
So come on down, we'll talk about it
Heartache spoken here
Tuesday, July 28; @Fort Wayne 4, Wisconsin 2:
When your grasp has exceeded your reach
And you put all your faith
In a figure of speech
You've heard all the answers
But the questions remain
Grab a hold of that fistful of rain
Wednesday, July 29; @Fort Wayne 4, Wisconsin 3:
Same old sun
Same old moon
It's the same old story
Same old tune
They all say
Someday soon
My sins will all be forgiven
Gentle rain
Falls on me
All life folds back
Into the sea
We contemplate eternity
Beneath the vast indifference of heaven
Thursday, July 30; @Fort Wayne 9, Wisconsin 2:
Some have the speed and the right combinations
If you can't take the punches, it don't mean a thing.
Second half playoff chances as related by a 70's sitcom character:

Honey, if you ask me about playoffs one more time....Well, you can kiss my grits!

So long, everybody! And -- in the words of Warren Z. -- enjoy every sandwich!
