The Brewers traded JJ Hardy to the Twins for Carlos Gomez. Did we get ripped off by the Twins? Carlos Gomez is indeed arbitration-eligible as a Super 2A Twins fan friend of mine wrote this about Gomez: One of the best (if not the best) defensive CF in the league. He can fly in the outfield, is fearless...cannon arm. Likes to show it off, though, which sometimes gets him into trouble. Swings at everything at the plate and his speed hasn't translated into SB success yet. Should hit 7 or 8 hole for the Brew Crew. Likable player. Not a very refined player. DW-I heard this one a long time ago at the bigbrownbox company.
"If you're going to go ugly, go YOUNG & ugly."
At the time, the speaker wasn't talking about today's Hardy trade, but I think that thought has some parallels that can be applied. Both players suck at baseball, but at least Gomez has the decency to get paid like he sucks.
