Salomon Torres

Salomon Torres really improved upon his pitching efficiency on Friday, to record the 3 IP save on opening day.

Previous Two Games: 1.3 IP, 34 pitches, 26.15 NP/IP

Friday: 3 IP, 35 pitches, 11.67 NP/IP

If Torres can keep his pitch count efficient, he will be an invaluable innings eater for the Brewers. The very fact that he threw fewer pitches yesterday means that he can come back on less rest for his next outing.

Thus far Torres has been very valuable to the Brewers' bullpen, holding a tie in the first game, a lead in the second game, and eating 3 whole IP in yesterday's blow out win.

I think yesterday's low pitch count (and the HR) was simply a function of having a monster lead and knowing that all he needed to do was throw strikes. That's the nice part of having the big lead and veteran relievers who know what to do with one, isn't it? BTW, love the blog. I just saw it for the first time the other day. I'm right now sitting down to finish my last two division previews, then I have to get the "prospects" thing up and ready to go for Monday-Friday. Did you send the thing into Dan yet?

About This Blog

I am Nicholas Zettel, and this is my baseball blog. I write for SportsBubbler.com, and along the way I do a lot of research -- this blog will have a lot of little tidbits of information that I pick up along the way. I like sluggers, speed and power, garbage time relievers, and my favorite Brewers are Rickie Weeks and Ben Sheets.
