Hammond's First Pick as Bucks GM

Can we start speculating? Who do people think Hammond is interested in? With all of the youth and logjams on the team right now, will he be dealing from Day One?

Assuming Carlisle is in line to be coach, I have the feeling that they believe Mo Williams can fit in their system, which means that they may pass on Derrick Rose. (I also think they will try to sign Bogut to a lengthy extension (top-priority).)

There is no way that the Bucks would pass on Rose if he was available, although the Bucks are going to need a top-2 pick for Rose to be available.  It's not about Mo Williams, it's about Rose being the second best player in the draft.

Gentlemen we're looking at the number SEVEN pick in the draft, not the number one.  Rose is not there - get real.  Who do the Bucks take at number 7?

Personally, I like Kevin Love.  Kinda reminds me of Paul Mokeski.  Honestly - the guy has the skills and temperament to be a sure thing productive NBA player, and we wouldn't get that with Eric Gordon, OJ Mayo, and a lot of the other "not ready", one-and done guys who are the majority of the lottery picks this year.

Is Darko available this year?  You gotta love that inspired pick of grabbing Darko at 2 ahead of Carmello.  I can't understand why Dumars doesn't get widely slammed over that waste of a high pick.  At least any time the Bucks have had a high pick they didn't make some kind of wild reach.  Looking back, Jason Kidd over Big Dog or Paul over Bogut would have been the choice, but you can't really fault the Bucks any over what they did.

I say that if they don't move up in the lottery, that they take that 6'10" foreign small forward.

Can we fault the Bucks for trading Dirk for Robert Traylor?  Or drafting Shawn Respert?  How about Marcus Haislip?  Yes, the Bucks hit on Ray Allen (via trade) and Michael Redd in the second round, but their track record on draft day is horrendous.

I was throwing out Derrick Rose more as a, if Hammond REALLY wants him, he'll find a way to get him, sort of thing. I would stand by that. We have the pieces to trade up.

That being said, we also have the leeway to trade down/out. Aside from Rose and Brandon Rush, there aren't a lot of players out there who really strike me as being able to come in and help us right away. I wouldn't mind trading down, picking up a solid vet, and getting a shot at Rush or Hansbrough.

No more unathletic scrubs please.  we don't want hansbrough or love.  get some athletes in here.  Trade Bogut, Yi and your pick and get Beasley and start FRESH.

Where has "athletic" gotten us?  Marcus Haislip.  David Noel.  Desmond Mason.  Tim Thomas. TJ Ford.   Darvin Ham.  Yi. Simmons?  (Not meant as criticism, I am just trying to think of Bucks players that are/were particularly athletic - we haven't had a lot).   Gotta go back to Ray Allen to find a Bucks star that could be described as athletic.  Doesn't seem to be a big priority in the Bucks organization.  But if you look back at the biggest draft busts, they were usually guys who were athletic and drafted for their potential.  The Bucks can't afford to miss AGAIN.  I say draft "productive" over "athletic" but it would be great to get both.  Just get some help!

I agree we don't want Hansbrough.  His game doesn't translate to NBA where everyone else is bigger, just as strong, and more athletic.  However, I think Love's game does translate well.  Even if he is not athletic, his inbounds passes set up the athletes on the team to get transition baskets.  He is also big enough to rebound well and he has good shooting ability.

Rose will be ten-times better than Mo could ever be.  So, if I'm Hammond I really make a push to do whatever it would take to get him.  Rose's game reminds me alot like the way Penny Hardaway played and was a great player before injuries.  Outside of Bogut, I'd do anything else with our roster to try and move up to select at #2 (I'm thinking either adding Mo or Yi).  Beasley will probably be the 1st selection.  We can build a pretty decent team around Bogut and Rose.

Not so fast... You say that we are #7 well not necessarily where you are slotted a position, when you are in the lottery as we are this year Its all random. Ping pong balls determine the order. Hence the lottery show the day before the draft. The chances of going #1 or #2 are slim yes but not out of the ball park.

I say if we don't get one of the first two picks we get Nicolas Batum for Italy. Look him up on youtube and check out some of his highlights, he has tons of potential and he is a lottery pick in my eyes. He would be a good edition to our team at the much needed Sf position!
