Does McCarthy have any say or is it all Thompson?

In the Draft room last week McCarthy was seen with his arms crossed looking at TT.  This week he states that he would like to be given the oppurtunity to work with Beaver.  It appears that he has no say in the choice of players?  I am sure that the GM has the final say but, is McCarthy getting any of the players he wants?  When the interviews came out about the draft, TT was the main one interviewed about the picks.  McCarthy was kinda an afterthought.  Would MM have taken a more open approach in free agency?  What was his thoughts on who he wanted to pick in the draft compared on who he got.  Would MM have drafted players more to the teams need and not WR? (our strength). Is TT tilling the rest of the organization that his way is the best and just watch his smoke?  Thoughts?

I think I am with you on this Beaver was let go today already. TT was standing right next to MM during today's workouts. MM says he likes the kid TT cuts him before MM gets the words out of his mouth. MM has proven his worth to me, he makes solid half time adjustments, puts the right personnel groupings on the field to fit the situation, etc... Yet seemingly TT gives him little responsibility if any making off season moves. Some will say why should he? Isn't his role on the field, TT's,off. I say MM should have a great deal of influence and input in off season decisions, it would appear he has none.

I tend to agree with you on this. It would be nice to see the coach & GM working alittle more hand in hand on the decisions. I agree you can't let the coach make all the decisions, look what happened when we let Shermy make personnel decisions. TT seems like its his way only and if you don't like it too bad. Hope he doesn't piss off MM.

First of all, this is all speculation. None of us have any idea how much or how little say MM has. Just because his arms were crossed doesn't mean any of this. It's just so hard for me to doubt anything TT and MM are doing. MM almost got coach of the year and TT got GM of the year. Whatever they're doing seems to be working, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Thompson is setting McCarthy up for failure. When Thompson first hired McCarthy, who was single at that time, he thought they would develop an everlasting relationship similar to that of Enis and Jack in Brokeback Mountain. Little did Thompson know, McCarthy fell in love with his woman receptionist. Now Thompson is looking for an excuse to fire McCarthy.

Dont be surprised to see Brett Bielema succeeds McCarthy in the foreseeable future.

Oh, btw, the last time the Packers had some one serving as both GM and Head Coach, that genius went 44-20 enroute toward becoming the only GM in NFL history to never miss the playoffs.

     His name was Mike Sherman.

WOW! One would think that with all that genius and setting of NFL records. There would be ONE other NFL team to hire him as head coach or GM. ONE, JUST ONE TEAM! But nope, every other team in the NFL are complete morons for not bringing in Sherman as their GM and Head Coach. After all, he is a genius. So I guess all other NFL teams are clueless.

Oh yeah, all Sherman did was draft 2 pro bowlers, traded for another one, and found Nick Barnett in a haystack! No where, no where was 4-12 anywhere when Sherman was GM!!!

Correct. Look at the Saints. Look at the Cardinals. Look at the Bills. All had a chance to sign Sherman.  All are now paying the price of mediocrity!!!

It really is just amazing. How come all these other teams aren't getting in bidding wars for Shermans services? Unreal... If The Cards, Bills and Saints would have hired Sherman, they to would be Super Bowl bound teams. Even the Dolphins! If Miami would have only hired Sherman, they would be for sure the favorites to win their division.

And if Brohm turns out to be anything worth a damn, you Sherman haters should indeed bow to the genius himself. It was Mike Sherman who drafted Corey Williams.

My Bad, and Atlanta. You have to admit though tank, if Sherman was in Atlanta Vick would have never been into dog fighting and since Vick has always been overrated I bet Sherman (the GM) would have traded him for a 1st round pick and drafter Matt Ryan. The Packers should have never fired Sherman. If Sherman was still the GM of the Pack, the Packers would have not just been in the Championship game last season, but won that game!!!! DAMN IT TT!!!!!
