Well, your boy did homer today. That's something. But my enthusiasm is tempered by today's result. They got six good ones from Ben, but it got ugly after that.
No question. But last night's game was the pivotal game in the series and the homestand. Kinda sucks.

Re: Braun Signs 7-Year Contract!!!
45 mil is a lot of dough and can understand why Braun took it, but when you consider he has to play for a crappy Brewer team for the next 7 years, it's downright depressing. He should have waited a year or two and the Yanks or Bosox would have come up with Andruw Jones/Barry Zito money and Brauny could have walked away with 80 to 120 mil long-term if he posted two straight 30-plus homer seasons. Brewers have no pitching, stupid manager, and other than Braun very little going for them.

Yes, because players can enter free agency after three seasons now.
If you're going to knock the Brewers, you should at least do so accurately.

Re: Braun Signs 7-Year Contract!!!
Wrong. In two years, Braun would have been arby eligible and thats it. Look at this contract as really 5 years 45 mil as the Brewers could pay him close to the minimum the next two seasons until he is arby eligible and then tyhey are buying out his arby years and two years of free agency at 9 mil for 5 years. Still a bit less than he could have gotten given his talents but a great deal for both sides.

Since4/7/70:If it ticks off Fielder, tough crap. Fielder should try being a Brewers fan for about 40 years and find out what being really ticked off feels like. AMEN to that!!! The Hebrew Hammer is now a pretty rich Rabbi.

Smart move for the Brewers to sign Mr. Braun long-term. This guy is a solid player with unlimited potential. He's a hell of a player already. I hope we do right by Prince. He is key to our current and future plans. If we can throw away big bucks for that stiff Gagg-ne, I hope the Brewers do the right thing by Fielder.

If Braun wanted to comdemn himsefl to seven years in baseball's version of hell, that's his problem.
I guess 45 mil will make anybody do something stupid.

Comet:
Why not give the kid credit for being loyal and wanting to play there. This team hasn't won crap in 25 (soon to be 26) years - and their blind loyalty to need Yost will guarantee a few more mediocre years.
Seriously though, he handles himself with class and works hard. Unlike Fielder, he didn't grow up with money and MLB around him. Prince acts like MLB owes him something, where I get the sense Braun feels he has to earn it.
He grew up in a pretty middle class zip code. I doubt his family had a ton of money since his mother goes and works at the Bud plant in Van Nuys. Charlie Steiner said (and I didn't realize) he went to Miami on not only an athletic scholarship but an academic one.
There's more to him than just the athletic talent. We should all watch the way he conducts himself. Professional and gracious. And I hope the $45 mil doesn't change that - I don't believe it will.
No matter who is in there, we have to find a way to throw the ball better for us to have success. I think when you are constantly behind in games, it is not easy and it is not fun. Their starting pitcher was clearly better than ours this series.

LOL, 82 Brew.
Every Brewer fan should now purchase a Ryan Braun jersey, if they had not already. Fantastic move for this franchise.

Re: Braun Signs 7-Year Contract!!!
uwmfan:
Maybe the over the top praise for the Braun deal suggests how down this franchise has been. Fans' expectations are so low, that even news like this, which means absolutely nothing, creates so much misplaced excitement. Braun is on the team, and signed, today, just as he was yesterday and just as he would have been next year. But now he makes a lot more money. Everyone is reading something into this signing: will Prince be next, then will Rickie learn and turn it around? So now we are a playoff team, see we can compete with the big boys that sign Braun-like contracts every year. But you have to stop and think. What does this mean for this year? Nothing. For next? Nothing. The Brewers have added nothing to the roster that they didn't have before. Childish cheering is unseemly and reflects poor fan judgment.
All due respect uwm, but I read nothing more into the signing than this:
I, as a Brewer fan, will get to watch a player that has skills around which, good, sometimes great and legendary things happen. I've heard too much about great "prospects" since the mid 80's, this is true. However, this kid has now declared HIS belief in the team's direction. Couple that with proven big league skills, and yea, I'm sold. The ownership's ability to secure such a deal is the proverbial cherry on top of the sundae. The judgment is "thumbs up" on this one.
