Looks like some fans will get their wish this draft

Keith Law does a good job of outlining the first round.  College pitchers abound, both starters and relievers.  With our extra picks, we should be able to get some help from this draft sooner rather than later.

Funny, I read this article as saying this is a bad year to have so many picks. I guess you are an optimist and I am a pessimist

Well, the article said it wasn't a good year for top-shelf, long-term premium high school picks.  But as far as I'm concerned, that's not what Milwaukee should be looking for this year, anyway.  If strengthening the system in near-ready pitchers is their goal (which it should be), it seems this draft is a great time to have extra picks.

I hope the Brewers take Tanner Scheppers. The report of a stress fracture was premature, and I think he simply got over used by a college coach. Shut him down for the summer. Send him to Ariz. Instructional league and my hunch we might see him in Milwaukee in July of 2009 to go with two other power arms, Yo and Parra. Yes I am an optimist. Then I wouldn't mind if Z starts loading up on a bunch low ceiling quick fix college relievers in the next two or three picks. Drafting a guy to be the "closer" with a top 20 pick is a waste of picks and seems like aiming pretty low for your draft. It reminds me of Bando taking Antone Williamson because we didn't have a 3Bman.

Got to watch the UGA vs GT regional championship this weekend. Georgia's SS Beckstrom looks like a real good prospect. SEC player of the year ala Laporta. He probably wont last till us. Josh Fields who is reported to throw 95 - 97 was just throwing 88 and is small. I know Billy Wagner is small, but he is an exception. Plus Fields has Borus as an agent. I would pass on him
