tonight's win was best win in a long time and this is why...

Tonight's 4-3 win over the D'backs was one gutsy performance by the Brew Crew!   There was very little style or prettiness on the field tonight but plenty of attitude. McClung was sloppy but determined, Torres dug in to close it and our hitters managed runs in the 6th,7th,8th & 9th innings, which is a rarity with us lately. I much prefer scoring late than scoring early because that shows grit and determination. We are a relatively young team and if we can consistently play with this grit and determination, we can be really, really good. Way to go Brewers and let's win this road series tomorrow!

the coaches gotta coach better, the manager gotta manage better,

I agree, but to truly be good this cannot be a once every 2 month thing.  You need to gut out wins every once in awhile

exactly!  there are games we should just flat out win, especially at home but using tonight's game as an example, nothing was going right for the first 5 innings but the Brewers' fortitude and determination willed them to win...if they can show this more consistently, that is what champions are made of. Right now, that is what a championship manager such as LaRussa is doing with his overacheiving Cardinals. Pretty soon, guts alone will not keep the Cardinals winning and the lack of pitching talent and the team's injuries will slow them down.

It's just too bad they had to sully an otherwise pure-grit performance with one of those showy HR that makes all the highlights.

It really takes some of the luster off the win for me, I tell you what.

As you know, I am a doubles man.  But even I can appreciate a blast like the above.
