All of you who say you are sick of Favre's indecision
I am sick of all of the people I hear who say they are tired of Favre's indecision and just want to move on. You obviously don't remember the 2 and a half decades before Favre. You people act as though you are director of player personel for the packers. The only thing that matters to me as a fan is that Brett has started every game for 16 straight seasons and has won more games than ANY QB in the history of the NFL. Brett has earned the right to take some time after the season ends to decide. The packer management seems to have an agenda to move him out and that is truly sad. Asking him to make a decision by early march is stupid, that is only a few weeks after the pro bowl for him to make a decision. They know he only has a few seasons left so it should not affect the draft that much either way. Brett is not only the greatest Packer of all time he is also the most popular player in football. All you have to do to validate that is see how much attention every possible item of interest about him gets on espn. I didn't hear much about the other 5 future hall of famers that retired this season. The bottom line is that the Packers are better with Brett, but I think it may be too late now to get him to play for us again. When Aaron struggles or goes on IR for the season as he has done the past two we'll see what all of you whiners think then.

First off the guys 38 years old and WORKING OUT AT A FREAKIN H/S. I don't care what you've done in your NFL career, no 38 year old comes into an NFL training camp, with only throwing and running around with a bunch of High schoolers. If he wants to play so badly why the heck would he not file for re instatement yet? On the packers managment yes he did get rushed into a decsion i agree, but how long would it of taken if he wasen't rushed would of taken? Till June 20th thats a freakin joke. FARVE WAS GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE IN LATE MAY WHEN HE ASKED FOR IT, HE DIDN'T TAKE IT. Now all of a sudden a few weeks till training camp farve gets the itch. How would this of worked if the packers waited, they would of had to go threw all of training camp not knowing anything. TT did the right thing, thank god we have a real strong GM, unlike other GM's who would of taken him back a week before the regular season if farve asked.

I do remember (and can recite the litany of them in my sleep) of all the heirs apparent to Bart Starr, beginning with Don Horn and Billy Stevens. I don't pretend to want to be (unlike the retired Favre) the GM of the Packers--I think we have a top caliber person there. I'm not the one second guessing TT.
I think it all comes down to this: TT believes that the Packers are better with AR than BF, and maybe this season. Perhaps they are tired of the Hamlet-esque "To play or not to play" overblown drama of the past few seasons. BF will be 39 this October and there were some chinks in the armor already last season: he can't hack cold weather or rain and he still melts down in big games. True, he's been durable, but he is also growing older and more susceptible to injury. The good fortune is due to run out.
As my Grand-daddy once said, "Don't get into a spray fight with a skunk." Except he didn't exactly use the word "spray."

Re: All of you who say you are sick of Favre's indecision
So Brett comes back to the Packers 3 weeks after his retirement press conference and tells TT and MM he's changed his mind. The Packers say "great news!" and make plans to charter a jet and come to see him after the NFL meetings and make plans to announce Brett is returning only to have Brett call it all off 2 days before the scheduled meeting in MS. In June Brett calls MM again. MM asks Brett if he's 100% committed. Evidently Brett paused. Even now the guy won't committ 100% (did you hear that pregnant pause again when Greta asked him if he wants to play this coming year??) and has yet to file his reinstatement papers. If Brett can't committ to playing how can you expect the team to just wait around while Brett decides? The Packers HAVE to prepare for the coming season. It would be irresponsible for them not too. TT probably had enough of this and moved on. Yes, Brett is a wonderful football player and the best I've ever seen (and I've seen Packer games for over 40 years) but no one player can be more important than the team. And if Brett truly wanted to play for GB there is no way he'd go on national TV and blast MM and TT. How he expects the Packers to cave in to his wishes now after that this beyond me.

Re: All of you who say you are sick of Favre's indecision
Blah blah blah.. Doom and Gloom!
Yeah, the reason the Packers were terrible in the late 70's and 80's was solely due to poor quarterback play. Of course Favre would have taken any of those teams to the Superbowl (rolls eyes). Actually for some of those years the Packers had a great offense. Lynn Dickey, James Lofton, John Jefferson, and Paul Coffman were great and formidable. It's just too bad that the defense couldn't stop Helen Keller from scoring at will. This is a Team sport. This ridiculous notion that Favre was the only reason the Packers had any success is hogwash. Pretty soon we'll be doing Brett Favre jokes like Chuck Norris (if you don't get the reference look it up). Yeah I know--If we had cloned Brett 53 times we would have won every Superbowl for the past 16 seasons by at least 100 points.
Brett has not earned the right to put the Team in a state of chaos year after year, and he has not earned the right to put himself above the team. Football is a Team sport. He doesn't play defense, kick field goals, catch the ball, or call the plays. He is one person on the field. He was a very good regular season player with outstanding durability. If your going to praise him for every win, you better be willing to blame him for every loss.

Re: All of you who say you are sick of Favre's indecision
Team sport. Period. Every successful season the Packers ever enjoyed was because we put a successful TEAM on the field. Enough of this lone-hero-putting-us-in-the-win-column nonsense. Favre has said so many times himself. We have a sound GM and a promising coach in charge of a maturing young team. I could understand why even 39-year-old #4 would like to be a part of that. What I don't understand is all the teetering he does about retirement. Why does a man paid millions of dollars to make split-second decisions on the field have to struggle so with this single decision?

The big question here really is: Why does Brett really want out of Green Bay? What was it that TT/MM did or say that really has him irked so badly that coming back to play in Green Bay is no longer an option? Granted, I think he should stay retired, but I'm really curious as to exactly what the feud is; until he actually comes out and tells us in no uncertain terms, all we can do is speculate.

I agree, I don't think we'll ever know, but there is a lot more to this story.

Re: All of you who say you are sick of Favre's indecision
My gut feeling is Brett has no love for TT. I think he gets along with MM alright but for some reason not TT. Brett has bemoaned the fact that TT has lied to him about personnel decisions. Er, Brett, TT doesn't have to tell you squat about personnel decisions. TT is your boss and it isn't your place to dictate or question his moves. I think this entire thing is Brett's desire to make TT look like the bad guy, right or wrong and Brett never wanted to come back at all. If Brett REALLY wanted to play and force the team to trade or release him he would be filing those reinstatement papers yesterday.

I would tend to agree with you here. The fact that TT didn't get Randy Moss for "him", and how many fans complained about which helped support Brett's whining. I still firmly believe that Randy Moss WOULD NOT have made the team any better - making #4 stay within the offense and not throw it up for grabs downfield to Randy Moss was a great part of the success the Packers had as a team last season. Randy Moss would not have been a good fit for the offense - period. Yes, he did show in New England that he can be very productive - but they run a different offense compared to Green Bay, and that offense was clicking on all cylinders last season.
