Re: It's only a matter of time everyone will want TT fired!!!!!!
Pack Attack:Does anyone think that if the Packers fired TT he wouldn't be hired by someone else probably less than 1 week. The Packers aren't getting enough negative press, lets fire the GM that lead the team to a 14-4 record. They would be the laughing stocks of the league!
A week. I give it 48 hours before his door is being knocked down. You don't think Detroit for example would kill to have a chance at TT. Playing against this Packer talent twice a year. Maybe then they would actually have some productive players. It is absolutely astounding to me that some "Packer fans" have the inability to see the good TT has done for this team. Has he done EVERYTHING perfect, of course not. Who has? But the good completely outweighs the bad. That means we would have to replace him with someone better. How can you do better then the youngest team in the league that was within an overtime interception away from the Super Bowl all while being around 30 mil under the cap. Sounds good to me.

So Rodgers was GIVEN the job.... He did NOT EARN IT!
Just like Brett didn't earn the job in '92 when Majkowski got hurt. He was the backup, and stepped in, as has Rodgers due to retirement.

How many snaps has Rodgers taken to earn that job? Favre earned the job - to remain the starter when Majkowski returned - by his play on the field...Rodgers has yet to do that, and Favre has returned. Nice try.

Not quite....We will see when Rodgers starts against the Queens if he deserves to keep the job, or if he throws 6 picks and has a 40% completion percentage with 1 TD, and the Packers come begging to give Favre his job back..
Wait a minute, I'm confused, those might be Favre's stats from the '01 playoff game against the Rams.
Get it thru your head, a pro team doesn't give the starting job to a player that hasn't done any off season work with the team, unless they figure their alternative is incompetent or unprepared. They've made a judgement, and soon we will find out if it is correct.

You missed the point completely. Favre did nothing to get his shot when Don went down. And yes, Favre THEN earned his job by playing well. The A-Rod situation is not the same at all. Why are you comparing it? Rodgers hasn't played yet. After Rodgers plays and Brett were to come back, after missing a year like Don did, then you can compare. Nice Try.

No, it is you who has missed the point - you even made it in your text...Favre earned his job by playing well and Rodgers hasn't played yet. Has nothing to do with 'getting his shot.' You are basically trying to say Rodgers has 'earned' his shot...not the job. If Majkowski came back the next play, did Favre 'earn' his shot to prove himself the starter? Of course not...this comparison is so inane it makes my head hurt.

Yeah - by BRETT!
Who didn't want it anymore...
then he did...
then he didn't...
now he does... but not enough to fight for it.
Is anyone else confused?

Good post. Isn't it amazing that you have to state the obvious to these people over and over? Thompson holds the key to our future. Brett Favre holds the key to the film highlights of our past.

Muddy - best GM? This is the guy who made the shrewd eval on Randy Moss? Nah, nothin left in that guy was there? GIGANTIC BUSINESS SCREW UP! Face it, the guy is out of his depth and a deceptive bureaucrat. As an unnamed counterpart to Thompson on another NFL team was quoted as saying that if Thompson didn't release Favre - "...he is an idiot."
"wheezes off into retirement"? What does that even mean? I'm just wondering why we as a society, have only contempt left for our heroes when they grow old to us?

Re: It's only a matter of time everyone will want TT fired!!!!!!
I would submit that GB may not have had as much success with Moss last year. They would have certainly had a lot of big plays but no doubt a lot more interceptions as Brett would have likely reverted back to his throw the ball up and hope for the best antics more frequently. YAC best in the NFL, this offense was perfectly designed for the talent TT brought in and got to one errant pass away from the Super Bowl. Our young recievers develooed nicely in a structured disciplined offense and Brett did a very nice job within that system. I was a big proponent of bringing Moss in last year, but looking back now TT made the right call...

dsilby is right on about bad teams drooling over tt. Second have people forgot how bad we were with a bad GM and the great BF. He sucked and everyone left him for dead and now he has talent around him and a good offensive coach so he is god again. I enjoyed favre for so long living and dying on every throw. But all good things must come to an end. Didn't tt earn some award as the best front office man in all sports.

"wheezes off into retirement"? What does that even mean? I'm just wondering why we as a society, have only contempt left for our heroes when they grow old to us? How do you put numbers on a disruptive influence on a young ball team? There's plenty left in old Moss. Good and bad. Thompson made the right call as I see it, but I'm not a professional. My evaluation is limited to one of simply being a Packers fan since about 1961. Nothing more. So how do I evaluate Thompson--apart from my own half-baked opinion? - What do his professional peers think of him? GM of the Year last year.
- Is he supported by the Packers organization? Yep, even by old Bob Harlan.
- Have his teams been improving? No doubt about it--especially the team that blew past everyone's expectations last year.
- What was his track record elsewhere? He helped assemble consistently competitive teams in Seattle and earlier in Green Bay.
- Does he understand the game? Yeah, as only a guy could that worked his butt off for 10 years as a special teams player in the NFL.
The gall of the people out there busting this man's chops. Show me your credentials if you want me to respect your opinions. Finally, does it diminish a legend to ask the question "how much is left in his tank?" It takes nothing from his accomplishments. Nothing. Here it merely follows his own agonizing words about how tired he has become. And to be fair, how many 39-year-olds in the league are being expected to shoulder the burden you all would have him carry this year? Why is that?
