where is turnblow? maybe he could give soup some tips

He's filling up his gas can with Mota right now... exchanging ideas on how to get batters out.

Turnbow no longer has a gas gan. He's graduated to a gas tanker that drives out to the mound with him.

LOL... I just spit my drink all over the place!

So... is this the beginning of Ned's stellar second half managing.

Boy, CaliBrewfan I sure hope not. This next couple of days will tell us some things IMO. I know they're only 4 games, but it's going to be playoff type baseball with a lot of great pitchers on the mound. These Cubs series always have me on the edge of my seat for obvious reasons. I just hope the Brewers can somehow steal 3 of 4. A split will be okay, but 3 of 4 would really make me feel good.

I would feel great about 2-2. It would keep the Brewers just one game behind the Cubs and in front of the wild card race. Losing 3 or 4 would give back a lot of the momentum built over the last 10 days. Of course, Ned made the downpayment on that today.

This series is going to go a long way toward showing whether my skepticism about the Brewers is well founded. The Cubs have 3 experienced and proven run producers in Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez, and all of them are warming up at the plate. They also have several good on base guys like Theriot, Fukadome, and DeRosa, a young threat in Soto, and a veteran in Edmonds who seems to be coming through with big hits more than the Cubs expected.

The Brewers, on the other hand have too many low contact hitters like Weeks, Hart, Hall, and Cameron who are probably not going to deliver much against the Cubs 3 right handed starters. Maybe Durham can help out there. Kendall is not much of a threat either. Fielder is in a dreadful slump and is clearly fighting himself right now. That leaves Hardy and Braun, and I worry about Braun when he tries to carry the team all by himself, especially against experienced right handed pitchers..

If the Cubs right handed power hitters can get to Sabathia, they can demoralize the Brewers right out of the gate. The Brewers need a win tomorrow, or it's going to be a long and painful week.

question of the day: does suppan make his next start?

Yes.  How long did Yost stick w/ Capuano last year and he wasn't making close to $8.25 million.

in capuanos defense, he didnt pitch as poorly as people think. his numbers were almost identical to those of cladio vargas. the difference being run support. resulting in 11 wins for one guy and 12 losses for the other. im not saying he was great, he just had chris bosio disease

Wow, even Radio and Einsteinhood have gone silent on this one.

Just thought I'd point out that Einstenhood is on his honeymoon and probably won't be around much this week. I know that will break some hearts.
Baseball is a game of the long season, of relentless and gradual averaging-out. Irrelevance—since the reference point of most individual games is remote and statistical—always threatens its interest, which can be maintained not by the occasional heroics that sportswriters feed upon but by players who always care; who care, that is to say, about themselves and their art. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, he is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

My partner threw a party and I was out all night -- it looks like I didn't miss very much.

BIGGER BATS HIT MORE HOME RUNS!
