The only people that want brett out of GB are the ones that disagree with how he 'disrupted' things, and feel he put himself above the team. If in fact AR is the qb this season and brett is somewhere else, I will surely sacrifice my allegiance to this team as a fan for a couple years in hopes that TT and MM get run out of town and never find any employment in this league ever again....  You can't put your personal differences in front of, or in the way of the ultimate goal, don't forget, this is an entertainment business, and I for one will not be very entertained if AR is leading my favorite pro football team through a mediocre season while brett is enjoying success on another team.

Uh, no.  As I stated on countless threads here and on jsonline, I "want Brett out of GB" because, no matter what revisionists here and elsewhere think, he hasn't shown me that he can in fact win the big game for the better part of this decade. The SB that GB won with him was 11 years ago, and that was because we had dominance on both sides of the ball.  To hear people on this forum, it was last year and it was all Brett, and not Reggie, Desmond, Dorsey, etc.

I also have to laugh at the people who say things like "I will surely sacrifice my allegiance" as though we should all cry in our beers because so and so is no lonegr a fan.  To which I reply:

never said I was no longer a fan. I want the polar bear gone and if it means GB limping through a couple mediocre seasons with an unproven qb while BF is enjoying success elsewhere, then so be it. What TT and MM are doing with their hard stance on AR being the qb of the future is personal, and runs much deeper than the notion that AR gives them a better chance to win, or brett isn't 200% commited. They are using their power and status within the organization to take this stance. So BF comes in and says he wants to play, uses his 16 years with the organization as a little status, leverage, and power. How is that different? Lets face it, MM has not cared for Favre since hes been here. When he was first hired all he talked about was getting him to play within the system and not taking so many chances , and blah, blah.....sure Brett has done some stupid things on the football field over the years, he has done some great things to. I think back to when my son played HS ball. Very good running back, didn't always play within the system though. But he scored and gained chunks of yards by improvising. Once the coach religated him to punt returns and KO returns for not playing within the system, the offense continually sputtered. guess how long that coach lasted. MM's success thus far is a direct result of BF and the way he plays this game, and the way the team around him plays when he is on the field.  C-YA!!!!!

Favre threw a bunch of short slants and outs and watched Driver, Jennings, and Jones toast secondaries. Rodgers can do the same thing (probably better).

Yeah.  Like those two short touchdown passes against Denver.

I am amazed at how people think Jennings and Driver and Grant are all so damn good when Favre had one helluva lot to do with their success. Do you think opposing defenses would rather have been hurt by Brett Favre or Ryan Grant?  The offense will sputter this year with Rodgers at the helm. The Bears have been searching for Jim McMahon's successor for about 22 years. Is Ted Thompson going to be looking for game management quarterbacks in the near future? Is there anyone here who would stake his or her own career on Rodgers, Brohm and Flynn? Ted Thompson has let his ego get in the way of good football judgment and he will pay the price if GB is not in the playoffs this year.

In all fairness, pretty much any NFL quarterback could have made those throws (again Jennings getting WIDE open).

Tanks X-mas wish list: Joey Harrington, Michael Huff, AJ Trapasso, Chad Henne, and Matt Jones.

Well I think I lost my mind......  I heard MM was quoted as saying that there is no question that Brett Favre on our team will in deed make us a better football team; thats a given.  I know I was reading it right but then he says that they are off in a "new direction".  Where is this new direction?  What is the new direction?  I am a Favre fan; true blue, but even the football mind in me is wondering now.  I hope i'm wrong but with every team in the NFL being just a few injuries away from an 8 - 8 record or worse we may be in for a long season.  As young as our team is we have to do so many things right just for a chance to win a game much less get to the play offs.  I hope this new direction they speak of moves the ball north and south and scores.  This young team has proved only one thing; that 2007 was a good year for them; they've proved no more.  In the NFL a new direction is done after you win the S/B or after you've gone 4 - 12.  New direction; well just heard he's been traded to Tampa

This thing should have been over months ago and now from the news today its just getting started.

In all fairness, you don't know what you're talking about.  Jennings ran the route nearly perfectly, leaning into the coverage and then bending it back out at the right time.

The throw, however, comes long before he get's there.  And it must be placed on his outside shoulder so the d-back can't make a play on it.  So Favre has to throw to a spot where Jenning's outside shoulder WILL BE and he has to make the throw before Jennings is open.

So you would honestly rather have some crappy seasons just to get rid of TT instead of Super Bowl season? (Not saying they will win a SB under TT, but that seems like the point this guy is trying to make). If that is true...wow.

Lets face it, MM has not cared for Favre since hes been here. When he was first hired all he talked about was getting him to play within the system and not taking so many chances , and blah, blah.....
So making a football player play within the system and reduce the number of mistakes he makes means a coach doesn't care for that player? Seriously? Why do you think Favre had such a fantastic year in 2007? It surely wasn't because he reverted back to his gunslinger mentality.

And my 10-month old has this to say about the game:

Ted Thompson, Murphy and Mike Moron should all be shown the door..

Murphy won't yet.. But AS SOON AS THE PACKERS ARE ELIMINATED FROM POST SEASON.. whether that be week 7, 8, 9, or 10,  Ted THOMPSON MUST BE FIRED. and Mike Moron as soon as the season is over.

when you firmly acknowledge  that you are a better team with Favre but that you must "move on".. means that you are throwing this year away.. the only long term that matters is THIS YEAR.  unless you are planning a losing year on purpose.  which is what Ted is doing.

Ted wants his boy.. and if his boy gets tore up the first week, tough.. there is no defense for it.  WHY? because name me a game that Favre has missed in the past 16 years..  So his BOY must be better then Favre..

so he gets to PROVE IT..

and he looked all so good this weekend.. like a dipstick..

    Michael W. Metz:
I have been a loyal Packer fan all my life. Today that has ended. Ted Thompson is an absolute moron with an ego MUCH bigger then Favre. Favre did not handle things right but, for Thompson to be so stubborn with this decision is just moronic. Thompson’s ego has taken the small window of opportunity to get to the Super Bowl away. Rodgers is a good back-up QB at best. Packers will suck this year and Ted “Ego” Thompson is all to blame. Thompson and the entire coaching staff needs to go. Mike Murphy is a gutless worm that should have never been hired. I long for the days of Ron Wolf a true genius. Now the Packers have a damn fool and no PR person is going to be able to turn things around for this idiot. The Packers were so close to being great. Now they may never be able to recover from this blonder. Thanks Ted you f___n! MORON. I mark today as the day the Packers died. I’m in mourning. Extremely disappointed in the team I once loved.

First, put down the 5hr Energy drink, you've had a few too many.

Second, as we all know, Brett's ego has nothing to do with this. St. Brett blesses us with his smile and southern charm, and we know that there isn't a dishonest, deceictful bone in his body. Through this whole process, from February to now, we know that he's been totally upfront with the team at every step of the way. I mean other than the fact that he never said anything publically, letting his mom, brother and agent do his talking, how could we doubt him.

You are right, the gall of Thompson and the Coaching staff to try and get an answer from the guy so they can make long term plans for the team is unbelievable. What kind of jack ass asks a player, who for 3 years has waited until May(ish) to decided his future to give them an idea before draft day. Let's face it, with the likes of Gus Ferrotte on the free agent market, or Sage Rosenfels for a trade, why would Thompson want to waste draft picks on quarterbacks. Just let Brett be Brett and decide whenever. Hey, why change the offense around for the guy who didn't retire, Brett might come back, and not be comfortable with the sprint outs and square routes (we know that's where 1/2 of his interceptions come from).

The other thing I can't believe is they only asked him 3 or 4 times if he was sure he wanted to retire. And then, only the GM stopped for lunch to ask, and only sent assistant coaches to ask. Who's idea was it to not have the entire board of directors go down and talk him out of retiring? Ted probably booked every plane to Hattiesburg just to make sure they couldn't get there!

You're right, we should fire TT for having the gall to plan for the long term future of the team, and for taking Favre at his word that he was retired.

If He is A Viking I Hate Him, Period!

    Re: FIRE Ted Thompson NOW!

Thankfully Mike McCarthy (now there's an appropriate name if ever I heard one) Mark Murphy and most importantly Ted Thompson, otherwise known as the TRIO OF TRAITORS, are a temporary stain, a blot, a cancer that will eventually be excised, from the Packers organization.  Personally I honestly believe that Thompson has lost his grip on his sanity, and as a medical professional, trained in psychology I do not say such things lightly at all. They can have Ari Fleischer, GW Bush's spokesman in the lead up to the Iraq war orchestrating every word that comes from Lambeau Field, oh and NOW we have the wonderful new "Fan Conduct Policy" ...IN AMERICA, the land of FREE SPEECH???  Just who in the world does this megalomaniac think he is?  That kind of thing was odious enough coming from the White House, but from Lambeau Field?  That is simply not going to fly...legally or otherwise.
