Other NFL Action - Week 6

Holy wild finish to the Bears/Falcons game - maybe Atlanta is just a little better then we all give them credit for.

The Rams beat the Redskins - I suck at predictions, though I did start Portis this week, he did well (though Santana Moss did not).

That Minnesota/Detroit game must have been a real thriller (with a 3-2 halftime score, I didn't realize this was soccer).

Jets win! lets not forget that one lol

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning

Yes, knocking off the lowly, winless Bungles. I imagine PB is rolling over in his grave over the state of that franchise.

Two weeks ago Favre knocked off the Cardinals with 6 td passes. Cant call the Cardinals lowly no more. :)

But you can still call the Bungles lowly-- and it fits

They are an awful team all the Jet scoring drives started in Bengal territory. Before Carson Palmer's injury they were good. I think you need a QB...

No you can't call the Cardinals lowly right now, beating Dallas does give them some credibility.... HOWEVER, just consider this- Teams that have traveled from the East Coast to the West Coast or Vice Versa have been getting blown out ALOT this year!

The Jets BLEW OUT the Cardinals 2 weeks ago, the week before that the Jets also got MANHANDLED by the Chargers.

The Seahawks have been blown out in BOTH Buffalo and NY against the Giants.

The Bills got steam rolled by the Cardinals last weekend.

The Raiders (are the Raiders) got stomped by the Saints this week.

San Diego destroyed the Patriots this week also!

Those are just a few games that I thought of off the top of my head. TIME ZONE differences DO HAVE AN IMPACT on teams playing each other. So before we give LORD Favre his 4th MVP award for tossing 6 TD's against the Cardinals 2 weeks ago just think about what's going on league wide with the time zone differences and the results they are producing this year. (Poor excuse? Maybe, but the numbers don't lie either!)

Believe it or not, Robert, I was a big Bengals fan back in the early days--they were my favorite AFL/AFC team.  They've always had that kind of star-crossed luck with QBs, though. In their second season, they drafted the guy who should have changed the game at the position, Greg Cook.  Big, strong, mobile, and had a cannon for an arm.  His release was as quick or quicker than Namath's.  Bill Walsh was running a veritcal-style passing game as OC at that time and all of the records were his to be broken.  He had a 15+ yard average per completion.   Sadly, he tore up his rotator cuff in that season, and given the state of medical arts in 1970, they were never able to get him back to where he was.  The next season, Brown and Walsh had to make a go of it with Virgil Carter, and the West Coast Offense was born.

That's fine but if you're going to play the diminish game understand that the Packers' victories have come against the Vikings (borderline suck), Detroit (suckiest of the sucks) and Charlie Frye (suck suck).

The equalizer being that that last two, shipit, came on the road.  The Jets didn't look like much special in a game at home against a franchise, that arguably, has had a dismal track record for the last 15 years or so.

Detroit gets beat (usually badly) wherever they play.  And if Seatlle played all their games at home w/ Charlie Frye quarterbacking what do you think their record would be?  I give the Packers credit for winning a game yesterday they absolutely had to win but both the Packers and the Jets need to prove they can hang w/ playoff caliber teams.  Diminishing Favre's victories just invites an obvious argument going the other direction, that's all.

That's a great point Ship.  Neither the Pack, nor the Jets, have proven yet that they can hang "consistently" with playoff caliber teams.  The Packers have some games coming up in the next month that if they win could give them some credibility - but they need to win them.

Hey if Favre can get the Jets into the playoffs, we get a 2nd rounder.  I will take it.

I'm ready for a different chance, I've seen his show for a decade, and it's gotten old, and every episode ends the same, with the gun slinger shooting the wrong guy. -aegisfc August 2008

"If Brett is not the starting QB for the Packers next season I will not support the Packers. If Brett joins another team including both the hated Bears and Vikings, I will support them. I will not be Packer Fan again til Ted Thompson and Mark Murphy are fired. Which wont be long after that cuz out team will fall apart and all out good players will want out of Dodge.I'd rather have Mike Sherman, Ray Rhodes, Lindy Infante or any other old Packer's Brass before rooting for team run by arrogant ungrateful ingrates. At least they were trying to to what was best for the team. Not what is best for the egos." Ace_Maverick July 2008

Dan Orlovsky's safety for the Lions yesterday may have been the most boneheaded play I've ever seen in an NFL game.

Good stuff CCF, kind of explains your defense of the AFL in that Bart Starr thread the other day.
