I'm not sure you really get it from the content of this post, but I was really arguing more about the accuracy of his deep passes.  Favre's skill is/was fitting the ball into holes in the middle of the field that no one else could.  I know that all of the Favre people on here really remember him as a great passer in all aspects, but in reality, he threw a very inaccurate deep ball (please spare me the citing of one or two games where he did it - in general, he was not very accurate on long throws).

I also laugh a little when people call Rodgers a "game manager," despite the fact that a high percentage of Favre's throws last year were slants and checkdowns.  The fact is, those are good, safe throws, and it didn't make Favre a "game manager," so why should it make Rodgers one.

Another thing for you Robert - Favre is averaging less Yds/Attempt but a higher completion percentage.  That means many more of his passes are going for short yardage, which means that while he is technically more accurate, he is, in all likelihood, throwing higher percentage passes in a "game manager" offense.

come on Ike the yds. per attempt is a nominal difference. I get where you are coming  with the long ball. It's too early to say ARod is better don't you think? 7.7 to7.3 picking nits Ike...I totally hate the game manager tag on Rodgers as well, he's got everything (skill wise) in his rep, all he needs is time. Today the Jets worked with a short field all day which affects the YPA . They have a great punt returner, Leon Washington.

I'm certainly not trying to take anything away from Brett, and I don't mean it that way.  All I'm saying is, the fact that Rodgers has attempted more throws, completed a fairly decent % less passes (although still good) and is still averaging more yds/attempt means that Brett is throwing a lot more passes for short yardage.  The logical conclusion is that he is throwing short, easy-to-complete passes.  That's not a knock on him at all, he's winning games like that.  I really think that Rodgers will be more consistent than Brett throughout his career (all opinion) but that he will never be as good as Brett as his best.

Trust me, for every one deep ball Favre put on target, at least one was nowhere near the receiver.  Jennings and Driver have both stated at different points this year that Rodgers throws a more accurate deep ball.  That was not one of Favre's talents, and if you think it was, then you are either blind, forgetful, stupid, or a troll :)

Should Rodgers be as good as Favre with this being his first year as starting QB?  Of course, not.  And why should Rodgers be compared to Favre anyway?  The whole fiasco surrounding Favre playing for the Packers had nothing to do with Rodgers.  It was Favre undecisiveness about playing football until the last minute.
