    Rumor: Brewers interested in Izzy

Just noticed this and thought it was interesting:

Free agent Jason Isringhausen said he has fully recovered from September surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon and is willing to compete for a role other than closer.

Izzy would like to stay with the Cardinals, but the Brewers and Dodgers might be more interested. "I know last year was a terrible year at a terrible time for my career," he said. "But I don’t need money. I need to get back pitching again and figure out if I can still get major league hitters out. To me, that means getting into camp and making somebody’s team."

I like the way our pen is shaping up, but it certainly couldn't hurt to bring in a guy with his track record in on a minor league deal to see if he has anything left in the tank.

It's the kind of low risk-high reward deal that can end up helping to put a team in the playoffs if it pans out.  A bullpen of Hoffman, CV, McClung and an effective Isringhausen as the top 4 looks pretty good.

However, the Cardinals would be foolish not to try to get him back, and he's be equally foolish not to want to work with Dave Duncan as his pitching coach, IMO.

Yosty (YO-stee) n. A collection of games that the Brewers have lost , where you can look at a piece or pieces of management by a manager and reasonably and logically conclude (based on conventional baseball wisdom and factual information available at the time) that he should have done something differently that, along with other factors, might possibly have changed the outcome of the game.

LaRussa/Duncan will probably take Izzy back and make him into a starter or something.... This is what the Cardinals DO BEST! They take other teams TRASH or in Izzy's case THEIR OWN WASHED UP JUNK and polish it into something serviceable! Just look at what the Cards have done in the past few years.... Jeff Weaver, Jeff Suppan, Braden Looper, Jason Marquis, Kyle Lohse, Rick Ankiel (Every one of these players were either left for dead or believed to be washed up and the Cards won a World Series with 3 of those bums IN THEIR PLAYOFF PITCHING ROTATION!!) and now maybe Jason Isringhausen! What makes it worse is that when St. Louis doesn't want the "garbage" they made useful other teams seem to think that the success these players had as Cardinals can be duplicated in another uniform! (Cough!... Jeff Suppan!!) This is why I HATE THE CARDS.... They can never be counted out, they develop players better than any MLB organization (not named Oakland or Atlanta) and their manager Tony LaRussa is a piece of sh*t that nobody in baseball likes..... yet they still win!!

    BANK ON IT!!
