    Greg Brock......Who?:
Do you expect Macha to start him everyday at third by default?  I sure as hell don't!!!
No, that is what you do when you have an untalented big league team and lots of talented prospects. You bring them up and force them in, because they are you're future.

This is what the team did in 2005-2006 with Hardy, Weeks, Fielder, Hart etc.

Now, with a team capable of and actually contending, you raise the bar and go with the best option. Right now, that is clearly McGehee. Now giving hima  day off with his balky knee makes perfect sense, but he needs to be in there as much as possible while he's doing what he's doing. If that means Gamel needs to go down to get the AB's the org wants him to get, so be it.

    Greg Brock......Who?:
He has gotten more than enough chances to produce, and he has not.
Disagree, sort of. I believe he's shown enough that, were it not for McGehee's insanity, he could stay up and be out there (with Hall being a late D replacment and seeing some starts V LHP).

Not everyone pops out of the womb like Braun did. Sometimes guys do need some time to go from getting by (which I think Gamel clearly is) to exceling.

    Greg Brock......Who?:
t is not that hard to see that by his body language and facial expressions. (People really need to get over the idea that one cannot determine the mindset of someone by looking at their physical "tells".)
...and I really think people need to recognize that:

    1) not knowing the person

    2) not having personal contact with the person

    3) only seeing them a few moments a day

...that they can only say so much accurately about what the players mindset is and that they certainly CAN be dead wrong basing judgements on such scant evidence.

See Igniter, this is how you respond to a person without ragging like a soft little girl.  Not one idiot blast while he debated my points.

I agree, "tells" only give a part of the picture, obviously.  But the idea that Gamel has not gotten enough of a chance to perform is silly, and apparently igniter does not want to hear about it at all.  32 K in 37 games is something that I guess igniter has no problem with.

Instead, I'm an idiot for thinking it is a good idea to send Gamel back down to get everyday playing time.  And yes, you state it perfectly.  If Casey was not on fire right now, Gamel would probably get more time.  That life in the bigs though.......

How's that "DAMN LUCK" Working out for you now, Quick??

    Then you are an idiot.

    Nice.....

Boy, with the hardon you have for Gamel, maybe all he needs from you is a reach-around to make your fantasies about him become reality.  You are the only person here claiming that Gamel has EARNED an everyday spot on this roster.

    And I'm the IDIOT???????????

NIce way to get personal while you blow your wad all over Gamel's chin on this forum.  Get over yourself, tool.

    LOL!

I think this is the first time I've ever been on this side of that particular issue....

    Kinda nice.

I do think what he's shown is enough to justify staying up and in the lineup were it not for Casey.

    He's not been overmatched, IMO.

I don't have much of a problem with it either.

Gamel's strikeouts most often come from working counts deep. He's done a good job drawing walks and to do that you have to go deep into counts most of the time.

I have a problem with K's that are a result of short AB's where the guy swings at balls way out of the zone. I don't worry about the kind I've seen more often than not from Gamel.

I would leave it at this if I were you.

Whoa guys!  Keep it in your pants.
Baseball is a game of the long season, of relentless and gradual averaging-out. Irrelevance—since the reference point of most individual games is remote and statistical—always threatens its interest, which can be maintained not by the occasional heroics that sportswriters feed upon but by players who always care; who care, that is to say, about themselves and their art. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, he is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

I say we trade him for some starting pitching.  He isn't that great of a fielder, he's at best, a below average hitter, but for some reason he remains a highly rated prospect which means we could get someone with real talent for him.  I can't stand this guy, he's a big time risk when he plays 3rd and he really hasn't done much with the bat lately.

Bottom line, TRADE HIM and TRADE HIM NOW!

I'm not a fake, nor am I a troll, nor am I anybody special. I am just a die hard Brewer fan and I want the team that I have loved since 1992 (when I attended my first Brewer game)  to achive great things and there is something about Mat Gamel that I believe will prevent that from happening.  When he helps the team out, that's great, and I know he doesn't have much experience in the big leauges and it will take time for him to develop.  I think that since McGehee is producing very well, Gamel is not going to get much starting time and he is never gonna develop into the player that everyone says he is.  That's if he stays with Milwaukee.  If Melvin could trade him for some quality and reliable starting pitching we would both be getting a good deal.  Us, by having that starting pitching, won't be giving up very many runs and we'll win more games and Gamel because he'll get some valuable big leauge experience on a club that could make better use of him.

What's gonna happen next year when Rickie is back and either Counsell, McGehee or Hall starts at Third.  Gamel will once again be shipped down to the minors, where he will play the majority of the season and put up outstanding numbers and when he does get a call up he'll be stagnant in the majors because all he'll do is sit around and start every once in awhile.   It happens all the time.  Gamel has value to him, so he could bring a fairly big name to the club that would help us.

It's not that I hate Mat Gamel, I just think he's too much of a risk for the team to take a chance on right now.  If we didn't have McGehee or Counsell, then I would be all for him staying around, but McGehee has proven that he can handle big leauge pressure with such little playing time.  Gamel hasn't.

Please, don't think of me as a troll or a fake.  I'm just a die hard Brewers fan and a die hard Robin Yount fan.
