This kind of flew under the radar during the holidays, but the WCHA added Bemidji State from the CHA and Nebraska-Omaha from the CCHA. I'm not sure this will have a major impact on Wisconsin outside of the loss of a couple of non-conference games. I do think it was a must for college hockey in order to preserve some of the smaller D1 programs. The disolution of the CHA was inevitible and it's good to see the WCHA step up and do what is right.
The addition of UNO is really good for the conf. Geographically they are a good fit. A metro market of 1mil plus and they play in the 14K seat qwest arena. Trev Alberts is the AD and former Sue coach Dean Blais was just announced as the head coach. It looks like they are making a serious committment to being competitive.
