+1      the only reason I can see is to have somebody in training for when Kendall hits the forced Retirement age  of 70 something.

It's good to see Salome has gotten things together in Nashville, though his current numbers are more in line with reality than what he did last year in Huntsville.  Lucroy is going to need to hit wth some more power because his OBP would be high enough.

Baseball is a game of the long season, of relentless and gradual averaging-out. Irrelevance—since the reference point of most individual games is remote and statistical—always threatens its interest, which can be maintained not by the occasional heroics that sportswriters feed upon but by players who always care; who care, that is to say, about themselves and their art. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, he is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

The guy can't catch a f*cking baseball, for f*ck's sake.

Rivera, based on what he's done in limited time this season (and to some extent last season) at least deserves a chance to show whether he sucks more than Kendall.

It's not unheard of that the light goes off for a guy later on in his career.  After all, I don't hear anyone screaming for DiFelice to sit on the bench because he was a "late bloomer".  Let's not lose track of the fact that even if he were mediocre, it would be a huge improvement over Kendall.

Yosty (YO-stee) n. A collection of games that the Brewers have lost , where you can look at a piece or pieces of management by a manager and reasonably and logically conclude (based on conventional baseball wisdom and factual information available at the time) that he should have done something differently that, along with other factors, might possibly have changed the outcome of the game.

I think splitting some time might be a good idea. Maybe Rivera can even call a better game behind the plate. Kendall sure hasn't done a very good job of that over the last month.

BTW, I may not be on the game thread tonight. Want to say that ahead of time since I think they'll find a way to win tonight and I don't want to get abused for not being around.

No matter who is in there, we have to find a way to throw the ball better for us to have success. I think when you are constantly behind in games, it is not easy and it is not fun. Their starting pitcher was clearly better than ours this series.

I love how divided this board is with Kendall vs Rivera. When Rivera fails to make the play at home plate, people want Kendall. When Kendall taps a soft grounder to the shortstop people want Rivera. I see Rivera has a 32 year old Rookie; with some expierence. ESPN talked very highly about Rivera the last time the Brewers played on ESPN. But they said that his talent will be hidden when Jason Kendall is in the way. I am all for giving Kendall a few days off, maybe every other game. This would be a "platoon" to get Rivera some playing time.

Isn't Kendall a FA after this season?

Everybody knows that the Brewers need a better Catcher then Kendall... This is Kendall's last season with the Brewers. He is a FA after this season.
