Re: 7.8 Game Thread: Suppan vs. Wellemeyer

Everyone talks about Cameron... I'm looking at other CF's who make less money than Cameron:

                        BA/OBP/HR/RBI/SB

    Cameron     .251/.362/14/39/4

    Kemp (LAD)  .314/.380/10/45/19

    Victorino (PHI)  .308/.372/6/40/15

    Gwynn (SD)  .303/.377/1/8/3

    Bourn (Hou)  .286/.362/2/21/28

    Rasmus (Stl)  .283/.327/11/34/1

    Ross (FLA)  .281/.339/14/48

    Fukudome (CHI) .265/.382/7/27/6

Not sure on what Fuku makes - but I know Cameron makes a lot more than these other guys. His RBI numbers are putrid - considering he hits behind the best hitting duo maybe in all of MLB most of the time (Braun and Fielder).

    I don't get the $10 mil investment

No matter who is in there, we have to find a way to throw the ball better for us to have success. I think when you are constantly behind in games, it is not easy and it is not fun. Their starting pitcher was clearly better than ours this series.

Hart should be in Center Field and Cameron should be out.

The .303/.377 really sucks that Gwynn has delivered.

Yeah, congrats.  He's been OPSing for under .700 for the past month or so and under .600 for the past two weeks.  Down, down we go.

You realize that it's hard to drive in guys that are already driven in, right?

Excusing the argument that RBIs are a super-important stat, you do realize that Cameron is tied for first in HRs, tied for fifth in OBP, and fourth in RBIs, right?

Your real problem is that you don't understand the MLB salary structure.

    No, he doesn't realize that.

He's too worried about Cameron's K's and lack of a high batting average to care about stupid things like OBP.

That is well down the list of the problems that Alf has.

     Gwynn hit a HR?

How the f*ck did that happen?

Nice try to skew it. OPS of .764 in the past week., .769 for July, and .776 for June.

I can only imagine the sand induced wailing that went on in this thread tonight....

Is there any possibility that you could come up with an original way to complain about other posters' complaining?

I'm the one that brought the "sand" thing to the board in the first place....so I feel like I can drag that one out when I want.

Regardless of who first brought it up, something that may (or may not) have been funny the first time definitely isn't funny the thousandth time.

    Is that serious?

Why don't we just trade for Adam Dunn and play him in CF?

I'm not the only one who like Gwynn. I don't have a shrine. One of my best friends, who is not typically a baseball fan, was a huge TGJ fan. Now his attention to the Brewers is scarce at best. Sorry, propping up sucky players like Gerut doesn't serve any purpose. Every time Gerut's name is mentioned on the post-game show, they disgustingly mention his stats.

    I'm confused.

If your friend isn't a baseball fan, how do they even HEAR about Gwynn??

And how could he have lost interest in the Brewers because they traded a minor leaguer, who wasn't even on the big league team for a year?

    Oh, that's right.

IT'S THE NAME!!! He heard of Tony Gwynn once and thinks Jr. is Sr.

    Just like Geddy.

Skew what, "doctor?"  Okay, he got his OPS back up to .710 since June 8th.  June 8th is about a month or so, no?

In his last 11 games, he's OPSing at .607.

    Good points though.
