    Capuano going to Helena!

    Aug. 30, 2009

Left-hander Chris Capuano, who had a second "Tommy John" reconstructive elbow surgery in May 2008 and has been on the comeback trail since, will begin a rehab assignment with the rookie club in Helena this week.

Capuano has made three appearances (3 innings, 2 earned runs) with the rookie club in the Arizona League. It has been a long comeback trail for Capuano, who experienced some setbacks along the way, but he's still trying. He missed all of last season and obviously, most of this year, before returning to the mound.

I get asked about him from time to time and just thought I'd pass that along to any interested folks.

Cappy pitched two innings tonight, 0 runs and 2 K's. Small step, but still a step forward. I wonder if the team will let him pitch in winter ball or if they will call it good and the end of Helena's season and let him prepare for next year. I just hope he makes it back.

Good news is better than bad news. Hopefully he can make it back to the majors someday.

    Are you talking to me?

That's good news for Cappy but I can't believe the Melvin braintrust has much hope for his return to the majors. But when you're as desparate for pitching as they are, you'll take a look at anyone.

Sorry I didn't realize I was getting graded on my spelling. I will try to improve and not make the same mistake again.
