    Aaron Bowen decommits

With Jumail Jones' committment to play at MU two weeks ago, it comes as no surprise that Aaron Bowen has re-opened his recruitment.

Call me naive, but I'm more than surprised.  I thought Buzz was going to have all these interchangeable 6'5'' - 6'7'' long athletic guys supported by one true big and one true PG -- and not lock the other guys into set positions.  I didn't know Jones signing meant that there wasn't any room for Bowen in Buzz's system.

Yes, but also remember that the coach that recruited Bowen is no longer here - Dale Layer left when he took the head job at Liberty U.

You can always seem to expect the unexpected with MU recruiting these days. I have to wonder if this might be a signal that Buzz has his man all lined up to take Bowen's spot. Buzz is always one step ahead of the game. He has said you never stop recruiting because you never know what might happen.

That being said, I think this departure is all Bowen's decision. Wish him well and wait for Buzz's next surprise!

Not surprised at all, but it sucks a little bit.

Another example of why it doesn't pay to get too excited about verbal commitments until the LOI is signed (see Blue, Vander). These kids don't really know what a "commitment" is. Maybe they should be called verbal "statements of my current leader subject to change at any time without notice".
