kegman:
Kissed our sister. If that start doesn't make you think National Championship, nothing short of the top of the Appalachains will.
I was at the game last night. Pretty unimpressive, but at least they got a point. Here's what I thought about the weekend:
I actually thought they were totally dominant on Friday night, but their old problem of not being able to put the puck in the net surfaced. It's been a huge issue under Eaves. Too many guys can't pull the trigger or shoot wide or whatever when they get in close. These guys need to learn how to finish. Then a couple defensive lapses and some bad goaltending, and it's a loss. But given the opportunities they had, the Badgers should've score 5+ goals.
Saturday was more evenly-played, UW didn't generate much offense, neither did CC. Their only goal came on a 5 on 3. I thought Gudmandson was pretty solid. Badgers looked sluggish, though. Just couldn't get anything going. It was a pretty sloppy game offensively for both teams.
It's definitely not the start I'd hoped for, but college hockey is a long season, as I've learned. I've seen the Badgers get off to hot starts and limp to the finish line. But they definitely can't start 0-6-1 like last season. That was too big of a hole.
