    Vander Blue commits to Marquette...

    Vander Blue commits to Marquette

Here is my analysis on Blue from MU's Elite Camp

Vander Blue              6’4  PG,  Madison, WI

I tend to be harder on local kids because I see them quite a bit against lesser competition. That being said, Vander Blue was the best player in camp hands down. Offensively – he shot well from 3pt range, drove to the hoop and finished. Has nice hops and was an effective passer when team had large lead. Defensively – can be a lock down defender – seemed to deflect with ease, often resulting in steals. Has the sense to help when teammates break down. Only player to give him trouble on the defensive end was Tokoto, but he was still more than effective against him. May have also had more rebounds than any other guard in camp. His defense and stamina put him at #1 for me. Only drawback was that he did not get teammates involved enough, but not sure his team would have won games if he had.

Hmmm.. what could that be? I assume that Cadougan hasn't had a miraculous recovery and will be ready to start the season., So maybe it has to do with one of the weekend visitors making a verbal commitment. Maybe one who was a high school teammate of one of the current players?

I would almost prefer Black right away. Blue later. Like tomorrow!

Jim, Rivals doesn't even list MU as being on Black's list of candidates and doesn't show that they have offered him. What do you know about where MU stands with him? It's hard to believe he would waste an official visit if he hasn't been offered a scholarship.

Story on Blue is up on front page.....

As for Black, Marquette has certainly offered and has been recruiting him for quite some time. They have been picking up steam, but I don't anticipate anything happening with him for a while yet.

Just imagine if Monterale Clark, Jamil Wilson, Jeronne Maymon, Vander Blue, Dwight Bucyks, Junior Cadougan (Aaron Bowen is gone) all committed to play for Marquette together!!?

Who beats that? Kentucky? Villanova? North carolina? Duke? That team could have competed with any of them. Man would that have been a fun team to watch! Wow....wow...wow!

Can you imagine that...to say nothing of the other guys they would have? That would have been a national power for 2-3
years and rival one of the best teams in history here.

    Oh what might have been...

“My main goal is coming out here, making the playoffs, getting my teammates involved and trying to bring the winning back to Milwaukee,” Jennings said. “We have to win. I’m going to do my part and I’m going to try and make sure the team does their part.”

Well, the class of Buycks, Johnson-Odom, Cadougan, Williams, Maymon and Mbao was rated the #1 recruiting class by Hoop Scoop. Now take that with a grain of salt because Clark's rankings are a bit flawed, but still impressive by any means. Most other services had that class in the 5-10 range.

Blue (Top 25) and Jones (Top 75) make another very talented class no matter who Buzz lands to go with them. Now, if the next additions include any of the following.....Black, Smith, Pinkston, Mitchell, Coleman.... then you could have another class in the top 5-10 range.

Noe: Scout.com has a pay-per-view article up and one of the featured players is DuJuan Marerro, a 6'5 wing from Gary, IN (2012). He was at Marquette's Elite Cmap this summer and was VERY impressive. Here is a link to the Scout story: http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/910791.html

Here is what I had in my notes from watching him at Elite Camp, where I had him at the top of the 2012 class alongside JP Tokoto.....

DuJaun Marrero       6’5 W, Gary, IN

DuJuan was impressive on Saturday, but really caught my attention on Sunday. He has a solid handle on the ball, shoots it very well from the outside and gets to the rim and finishes. One of those guys that, every time his team got a key hoop, he was the one behind it. Ran the court very well playing end to end. Has nice hops and really applied some pressure defense. As the weekend went on, he seemed to play with more and more confidence. Certainly in my top ten in the camp. Only a 2012, he is one to watch.
