I was glad to see this...he has a lot of mouths to feed.
The Knicks set their regular season roster four days before it was
due to the NBA. It looks as if undrafted rookie Marcus Landry, who
literally paid his own way to the MSG Training Center in September to
get into workouts with the players and earn an invite to training camp,
has made the team.
Guard Joe Crawford and center Chris Hunter, two 10-day contract players from the end of last season, were waived this morning.
What's curious about the decision to waive both Crawford and Hunter
is that it leaves the Knicks with 13 healthy players on the roster.
Cuttino Mobley, who retired last year because of a heart condition, is
technically still on the roster, but it leaves an opening. But before
we speculate about any late additions, Mike D'Antoni, who will play a
maximum 9-man rotation most nights, has said he doesn't want to carry a
full 15-man roster this season.
We did a story on Marcus in
the Wednesday editions of Newsday and he discussed what it would mean
to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Carl, who is a forward
with the Houston Rockets.
The Knicks, who finished 5-2 in the preseason, were off from
practice today and will return to the court tomorrow to begin preparing
for next Wednesday's season opener in Miami.
