    trading Suppan

I just saw a list of bust free agent signings on MLB trade rumors and thought about this. Would you trade Jeff Suppan for any of these "bust" pitchers or would you hope that Rick Peterson can straighten him out. Or that this being the last year on his contract he starts pitching better since he's looking for another nice payday. These would be straight up deals a bad contract for a bad contract. It appears Detroit is where bust free agents end up.

    1/ Jeremy Bonderman  1 yr/ 12.5

     2/ Dontrelle Willis 1 yr/ 12

     3/ Nate Robertson 1 yr/ 10

    4/ Kei Igawa 2 yr/ 8

Soup makes 14.5 next season. (12.5M+2M buyout for 11)

    I don't see a match here.

could we send cash, like 2 or 3 mil to make up the difference?

Could? Yes. Why? I have no idea.

I know some Brewers fans think that Soup is the worst pitcher with the worst contract in MLB but clearly that's not the case.

It's not going to happen so don't waste your time even thinking about it.

Baseball is a game of the long season, of relentless and gradual averaging-out. Irrelevance—since the reference point of most individual games is remote and statistical—always threatens its interest, which can be maintained not by the occasional heroics that sportswriters feed upon but by players who always care; who care, that is to say, about themselves and their art. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, he is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

The Brewers have as much chance of trading Suppan this winter as they do of signing Prince long term.

I'll pray that he doesn't, though.

    That's more like it!

    Re: trading Suppan

There would be no reason to trade him for another bad contract starting pitcher.  The only valid reasons to get rid of him would be to save cash and/or open up a spot in the starting rotation for a better starting pitcher.

They could trade him for another bad contract, but only if it meant they were filling up or improving a roster spot in a different area of the team.  The areas where I think they could do that are outfield (CF or backup), backup IF, and catcher.

Yosty (YO-stee) n. A collection of games that the Brewers have lost , where you can look at a piece or pieces of management by a manager and reasonably and logically conclude (based on conventional baseball wisdom and factual information available at the time) that he should have done something differently that, along with other factors, might possibly have changed the outcome of the game.

I wasn't endorsing a trade for any of those guys, I was just curious if you could send cash in the MLB

Well we know that isn't going to happen. No one is dumb enough to take that contract on. If we did deal him for someone else as bad maybe a change of scenario may help electro shock one of them to pitch better.

Don't worry about CF and Catcher.  CAmeron and Kendall will be back. There isn't anyone else any better to replace them. Plus i'm sure they'll give a little discount too to come back.

It is sad when you have to feel good about Suppan being on your team with his contract compared to these other stiffs.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
