The Milwaukee Brewers have bought out the final year on David Weathers' contract, which costs the club $400,000. The option was for $3.7 million, a salary number the club clearly feels they can put to better use.

Weathers hits a free-agent market flush with available relief help, including several late-inning power arms such as Rafael Soriano and Mike Gonzalez, both of whom may be fits in Milwaukee.

Both are type A free agents, which would mean giving up the second round pick to get them. Of course, if they are going to sign a FA starter they're already going to give up that pick.

I really would like to get a feel for how many comp picks they can hope to get out of their 5 type B FA this offseason. Weathers appears to be a big "no", as would Looper if they turn down the option. But what about Cameron, Lopez and Kendall? Can they offer all those guys arby without having one of them accept?
