Re: "Sitton shaping up as o-line's strongest link"
Scott Campbell: Dane_Setner: McGinn on the mark again? What was his Packers prediction this year...won/lost total? Also wasn't it McGinn back in 2006...when Favre didn't make a first down running the ball....say that Favre had lost it and should give it up?
There are a whole bunch of Jets fans that wish he took their advice.
Doesn't his year w/ the Jets, a team that wasn't very good before he got there (4-12 the year before), running an offense he had never played in - seem sort of irrelevant now in terms of the kind of season he's having this year? The only way it's relevant (to me at least) is that he got hurt and faded down the stretch. But the games where he was supposed to take a beating (Pitt, Balt, and the GB games) are in the books and he looks pretty healthy to me.

The season's only half done. If he is doing the same thing in December and/or January, I'll be impressed. However, I am betting against it, dome or no dome.
Pretty healthy? Did you see him limping around out there on Sunday? Granted, he played well the rest of the game, but at some point soon, adenaline will wear out, the rigors of a long season will win out, and we''ll see the same old Favre fade down the stretch. He's done it the last 4-5 years (even 2007). This year will be no different.
If Favre wins the SB with the Vikings I will enjoy the moment, doesn't mean I'm not a true Packer Fan. robertj44, 6/26/09

If he collapses down the stretch again, then the fast start will be nothing more than a massive tease to a bunch of cultish bandwagon fans.

Again with the "IFS" scooter?

Nobody gets a Lombardi trophy for winning 7 games. IF he finishes strong, then the Favre cult will have something to talk about.

What I like about McGinn is he is objective and not afraid to go against the grain. At a time when everyone, me included, is complaining about the OL, he points out that Sitton is not so bad. A good point.

Dane_Setner:Excuses: Aaron d
Give it up, Dane. But take some solace. Based on Scott's "no-excuse" logic, Aaron Rodgers blows with his 10-13 record.

Re: "Sitton shaping up as o-line's strongest link"
Dane_Setner:Fact: 2007 Jets 4-12 2008 Jets(with Favre) 9-7......2007 Packers 13-3 2008 Packers(without Favre) 6-10
Fact: The Jets signed many free agents in the 2008 offseason. Fact: Favre single handedly threw the Jets out of the playoffs (and, ironically, has thrown the Packers out of the playoffs the last few times we've gotten there).
Fact: IN 2009....Favre has kicked the Packers ass twice!
Fact: Favre is on a better TEAM then the Packers have at this moment. Fact: Jared Allen and Percy Harvin sure would have something to say about it being just Favre kicking the Packers ass.

I know that's what a lot of folks are expecting, I was expecting it too at season's start. I'm less confident it will play out that way now.

Re: "Sitton shaping up as o-line's strongest link"
shipitdear:Looks like he's off on the prediction this year and that will break his streak. The last couple seasons he went against the grain and made on the money calls. You should post a link on what he said about Favre at the time. Not saying he didn't say something like that but I'd like to see it in context. McGinn is pretty damn excellent IMO. You've got to remember the objectivity of the blind Favre homers Ship, they get a little foamy around the mouth if anyone dare speaks a word against Lord Favre.

Re: "Sitton shaping up as o-line's strongest link"
etorkelson:Also, if Sitton is OK does that mean Campen can't coach? Compelling argument. I would say a special player can do well regardless of coaching and Sitton just may be that. I don't expect the coaching staff to make a Pro Bowler out of Barbre or any of the other possible RT's they had, but they should be able to teach someone with potential to play at least capably. Interesting sidenote, Sitton is one of the few players drafted that has more of a Power blocking body then a typical ZBS lineman. Just another reason ZBS sucks imo. As for this clearing the coaching staff of blame, I'll just say this. Kurt Schottenheimer worked with 3 Pro Bowlers(Woodson, Harris, Collins), but I think you'll be hard pressed to find anyone here who would consider him a good coach.
That ain't Corey's game. Corey hacks on 2-0.
