Keith, It has been speculated that Detroit is listening to offers for Granderson and Jackson. Is this just speculation? What would you expect in return for both players?

They'll have to fish Jackson out of the toilet before they can trade him. But yes, I think they saw that his first half was a mirage and would like to flip him before his value deteriorates any further.

As Igniter posted a bit earlier, Jackson didn't actually blow up until September. His HR rate also ballooned in the second half.

Last I checked, the Brewers have a pretty fair left fielder.

DeJesus, Pierre, and Granderson would all play centerfield.

MLBTR is reporting that the Yankees may sign Cameron to play centerfield until their prospect is ready for MLB. If theYankees make Melky Cabrera available, would you trade  Suppan,Jefferies and Lawrie for Cabrera?

No. Why are you willing to part with Lawrie, anyway?

Carlos Gomez is going to start in CF in 2010. Might as well get used to it :)

I can't swallow the idea of Carlos Gomez in center. Hopefully his defense makes up for his bat, if not, I bet he'll be on the waiver wire or the bench with Jody Gerut in center.

what is up with all these Edwin Jackson trade rumors? Shouldn't Detroit just keep him?

These three pitchers are most likely available in a trade, do the Brewers have the chips to land two of them?

    Edwin Jackson

    Bronson Arroyo

    Aaron Harang

yes, the Brewers have middling prospects and the ability to take on some salary. Those are the only chips needed for those 3. Doesn't mean it is necessarily a good idea.

I don't want Harang or Arroyo unless the Reds are willing to pay a large portion of the contract and not expect much in return.

Edit: Man I might have to change my mind on Arroyo.  I didn't realize how good of a year he had.

    Don't be fooled.

It's almost certainly a mirage. The guy is really not that far from being Jeff Suppan.

I don't know 200+ innings the last 5 years including 220 last year with a 3.84 ERA.  He will be 33 next season and playing for a contract for the next 2 (club option).  I am not saying we should throw together a great package for him.  However If they are just looking to dump salary and get a lower mid-tier prospect back I think I might be inclined to have discussions.  The guy would have been our best pitcher last season and over his past 5 seasons all of them would have at least qualified for our #2 starter last year.

Basically I went from just totally writing him off wanting nothing to do with him to being able to be talked into him.  If the option is between Lackey at 5 years and 80 milllion or Arroyo I choose Arroyo.   I really don't want Lackey.

    It is a mirage.

His fielding independent ERA was nearly a run higher than his actual ERA.

Dude got some pretty good support, and will probably crash back to reality in 2010.
