Einsteinhood:
TheWiscSportsNut2: Pay Prince that money and move on.
They will not and should not give him a long term contract.
I'd pay the money to either Prince or Halladay.

brewerfanx1: BenderTheOffender:I think most people here realize nothing is 100%, but just because there is a 0.1 % chance doesn't mean you HAVE to point it out every time (I think it's assumed when someone says "it has no chance of happening" that it is not 100%, but nearly 100%), and then claim it's "50/50".
I never said the Halladay thing was 50/50. I understand where your coming from. I believe people especially DM and MA need to consider all options. So, why not mention all the options? Instead of just throwing it out the window just because it's "unlikely" to some people.
Because if we bothered with every 0.1% chance, then you could say anything, and not much productive would come of it. I could say we have a "chance" to trade for Chris Carpenter, a reasonable person would say "no, that's not going to happen", and then I could say "well I'm just putting options are there... there is a chance".
Options are things are that not only possible, but plausible, at least to me.

Ok. Me and Einey disagree on the issue of giving out around 25% of the payroll to 1 player. If Halladay will take more then that per year then I will probably pass, but I don't think he will. The Brewers need to take a risk on either a hitter Fielder or an ace Halladay? long term IMO. I think either one will dramatically help the Brewers for the entire length of the contract, and help attendance and bring in some additional revenue every year. It's worth it. Einey is right in saying that if prince and halladay want to test the market, then there chances are probably 0, because they can't compete with the big market ball clubs.
These options should be explored and considered.
It's hard to say "there is a chance" or "I'm just putting the options out there" when Einey is being highly sarcastic and mean toward what ever opinion he disagrees with. I can do it with pretty much anybody else, but Einey. He is a ass.

If they sign Halladay or Fielder to a huge money extension, they will NOT help attendance unless the Brewers are winning. And if they give one player 25% of the payroll, the odds are good that they won't be winners. Hell, they'll have Braun and Prince next year, and I'll bet you attendance goes down from this year.
How many extra fans did the Brewers draw when they had two Hall of Famers in the prime of their careers here, in Yount and Molitor? Not too many.

Re: Roy Halladay extension window talks..
Attendance numbers are generally made before the season is underway. If they make a big splash this offseason and actually acquire someone noteworthy, tickets will get bought. If not, it will be a quiet venue. Next years record will probably not affect attendance at all even if they are extraordinarily pathetic. Even so, there will just be empty seats but not lost ticket revenue. I think most agree that attendance looks to be down next year with the changes made so far.
Ty Cobb: "I believe I can truthfully say that I can hit equally well into either right or left field and generally at will. ... I will claim that when I am going right, I can drive four out of five fast balls within fifteen feet of where I want them to go."

Agreee with Geddy.
I think many fans are waiting to see what Melvin will do,and that could really change things.

I disagree. We saw attendance spike in 2008 when the CC Sabathia deal went through and the Brewers were in the hunt down the stretch.
The idea that fans will have already decided if they will come out to the games before the season is ridiculous. If fans dislike Melvin's offseason moves prior to the season, but the team is in contention come July, people will come out. To assert otherwise is simplifying the issue far too much.
