This guy has to weigh way more than his listed 265 anad one unfortunate play and he could be hampered for the rest of his career. There's no way his body will allow him to bat near .265 or so past age 32. Shouldn't we trade every player that has some value because they are all one bad injury away from losing it?

The same could happen to Gallardo, Parra, Braun, Hardy, or Hart, regardless of weight.

Also, who cares what Fielder will do beyond age 32? The Crew only need to worry about him until age 28 (not even).

I heard they don't recover, they just take them out to the pasture and shoot them.

it is becoming clear that the brewers are not likely to have enough to stay in contention. though it is baseball and who knows. however, they do appear to be about the 4th best team in the central and not much better than pittsburgh or cinncinnati. melvin will have to make at least one more move if not several to give this team a chance this year. a starting pitcher would be great, but without much help for brauny and prince it may not be enough. hardy has been an absolute disappointment. he had already been disappointing but had at least shown some streaky glimpses. but he has continually digressed as a pro the past two years and he seems destined to be an average ss for the rest of his career. he is shockingly slow and how many times can you bale with your ass hanging out of the box trying to hit pitches away. it's not just that he makes out so much, it's that he routinely looks overmatched. seriously, he's always been a shortstop yet only has 11 career stolen bases. his two seasons w/ 20+ home runs were not enough to make fans forget how many empty ab's he posts. can't imagine many teams would even be interested in adding him at this point unless the brewers give him away, but they may consider that. at some point escobar needs to be given a chance in the majors w/ the brewers or with some other team. an infield w/ prince, lopez, escobar and mcghee/counsell looks as good as what they are running out there now, especially if they add another quality starting pitcher in the process.

I still think that if the Brewers put him on the market after this season everybody would be lining up to get him. You guys can think what you want but If the best hitter is on the market after the year and the Brewers have a stud rotation and one of the better payrolls in the league you can bet your bottom dollar I would be going after him with everything I have.

You guys can think the Brewers won't get back good value for him but I think you are underestimating the value of the best hitter in the league.

The value of players in the past would say the Brewers would get a pretty good package and honestly Prince would be the best player on the market that I can remember. But keep on thinking he wouldn't get back what we want. I dont give a ***. It's all opinion and I don't think most on here are worth the toilet paper I wipe my ass with.

You want to trade the team's best hitter, and maybe the MLB's 2nd best, because you're afraid to lose him 2 1/2 years from now.

Igniter - I guess it's just me and you who understand what it takes for a small market team to have a shot at the World Series. You guys need to understand that the future of our franchise is with Gallardo, Braun, Gamel, and Escobar. With that said, we need to get as much for Prince as we possibly can. And now or the end of the season is when we should do that. There's no doubting this guy's talent and the fact that teams will be jumping all over him even only if its for 2 seasons. If we get anything close to what Texas got for Mark Texeira we should pull the trigger immediately:

Jarod Saltalamacchia - some consider a future all-star catcher
Elvin Andrus - ROY candidate
Neftali Feliz - BA's #13 prospect
Matt Harrison - another very highly regarder SP prospect
Beau Jones

Another smaller market team, the Minnesota Twins, made a mistake when dealing with Johan Santana. They squeezed only Carlos Gomez and a couple middle-level prospects because they waited too long. Had they made the trade a year or so earlier, they would have gotten many more prospects and could have been sitting atop their division right now.

There comes a point where you stop playing for the distant future and play for the present and immediate future.

If this team isn't going to play for the next 1.5 seasons, then what was the point in the first place?
