Everyone seems to have the Bucks taking Joe Alexander at the #8 pick. I'll be honest, I don't know much about the guy, but he seems like the kind of player the bucks want. Sick athletic, great work ethic, really strong, and can block shots and rebound. And supposedly a little insanely competitive, which should work for Skiles.

How could the bucks pass up on jerryd bayless who fell to them or dj augustin when they need a point guard badly because Maurice Williams isn't a point guard. Why did they draft Joe Alexander when they traded for RJ and already have desmond mason. Joe's just going to die on the bench and become another adam morrison.

In each draft, there's always a handful of players who miserably fail to live up to expectations, while others far exceed their pre-draft value.

In several recent examples, while lottery picks such as Jonathan Bender, Michael Olawakandi and Kwame Brown have flopped badly, second rounders Carlos Boozer, Gilbert Arenas and Ben Wallace exceeded their value.

So, take your picks. Who in this year's draft class do you think will be the Benders/Olawakandis and fail in the league; who will be Boozers/Gil Arenases of this draft?

1. Derrick Rose- good as gone
2. Michael Beasley- good as gone
3. Jarryd Bayless
4. OJ Mayo- Honestly, if he falls to 8 Milwaukee might consider trading down and pick up extra value for somebody in love with him. He doesn't seem like a guy who would grasp Milwaukee
5. Eric Gordon- Solid all around pro
6. Anthony Randolph- Really like this guy...which means he'll probably be gone
7. Russell Westbrook- If the Bucks think he can play point he brings the toughness and attitude this team needs
8. DJ Augustine- TJ Ford with a better shot; concern about size will probably force him into the 10-13 range
9. Danilo Gallinara- Solid European player
10. Kevin Love- Not in love with his long term prospects

According to Espn radio yi jianlian and bobby simmons has been traded to the nets for Richard Jefferson.

THEY SHOULD PICK: Joe Alexander, SF, West Virginia
Coach Z’s scouting report: With another year in college, he might have developed into a more athletic Wally Szczerbiak… great athlete who competes on every play… Bobby Huggins and John Beilein prepared him well… needs better range on his jumper and quicker feet on defense… also needs to develop his handling skills to become a star…
What they’re thinking: With Desmond Mason and Bobby Simmons on the roster, small forward is the most pressing need for the Bucks. Alexander is a phenomenal athlete, and his competitiveness would fit well with Scott Skiles’ coaching style. His stock is rising and he was tough as a bear in the NCAA tournament. He is strong and fiery, and his tenacity would be infectious. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Love are distinct possibilities, if they’re available. Danilo Gallinari is another player that would fill a need.
Offseason blueprint: Andrew Bogut is developing into a very good center, so the question is – are the Bucks building around Bogut, or are they building around Bogut and Michael Redd? With the supporting talent – Mo Williams, Yi Jianlian and Charlie Villanueva – of a playoff team, new GM John Hammond will likely make a trade or two, but expect him to see how Bogut, Redd and Skiles mesh before parting with one of the bigger pieces.

Who should the Bucks Pick?

This draft will be a very important one. Especially after the Harris firing. The next GM will decide where this franchise is going to go. Are we going to focus our attention on Redd which we have for so many years. Or are we going to go in a different direction. Safe to say we have our Center and PF locked up for years to come. Bogut and Yi are our future Center and Power Forward. Since the TJ Ford trade we have tried to bandage the PG spot for a few years now. The position that the Bucks need to address is PG if they are willing to not move Redd. Which is unlikely. If we can get a stud at PG like Chris Paul in New Orleans we will be set for years to come.

Is there a stud PG in this years class? Eric Gordon from Indiana, Tywon Lawson North Carolina, Russel Westbrook UCLA to name a few. Most of the players that in Mock drafts this coming year that are projected in the first 10 picks of the 2008 draft are Freshman. Its a tossup if they come out. We'll see this June.

Should the Bucks trade the pick? Hammond's open to it

This from Tom Enlund's story today:

"We're open to anything," general manager John Hammond said. "And we should be. Don't you think?"

The Bucks will be holding the No. 7 position going into the lottery and will have a 4.3% chance of landing the top overall pick in the draft. But they would be doing well for themselves if they landed either of the top two spots, enabling them to choose Kansas State forward Michael Beasley or Memphis guard Derrick Rose.

They are the clear-cut choices as the top two players available this year, much as last year when Greg Oden went first to Portland and Kevin Durant went second to Seattle.

But when asked if this draft was stronger overall than the one last year, Hammond said that was a "discussion point." Not exactly a ringing endorsement for the overall crop of prospects this year.

Trade the pick? Why not if it helps move a contract or two? Or, depending on who gets the number one, trade Redd and the #7 for it and take Derrick Rose. The pick could make a lot of deals work. It would certainly make Gadzuric or Simmons suddenly tradeable. Cap flexibility would be valuable. And it's not as though D. J. Augustin or Erik Gordon are guaranteed to be much better than, say, TJ Ford or Mike James or some of the other guards Larry Harris picked up and dropped in his first four years as GM. Remembering Steve Blake, Earl Boykins, Julius Hodge, and Reese Gaines, Eddie House, Erick Strickland, etc? Kendall Gill?

Or do the Bucks keep the pick?

If we end up with the 3rd pick, who do we pick and why?

I say go with either Anthony Randolph or Nicolas Batum. I say one of them because we need a small foward with good defense and offensive awareness.Plus we need to get big anyway and these guys have 7ft wingspand, plays defense and got good offense.

Hammond's First Pick as Bucks GM

Can we start speculating? Who do people think Hammond is interested in? With all of the youth and logjams on the team right now, will he be dealing from Day One?

Assuming Carlisle is in line to be coach, I have the feeling that they believe Mo Williams can fit in their system, which means that they may pass on Derrick Rose. (I also think they will try to sign Bogut to a lengthy extension (top-priority).)
